Reagan hovered over the dead body in tears. Sheâd forgotten to feed before going out, and the young man in front of her was the consequence. Heâd cut his hand on who knows what, and the second the scent had hit her nose, the young vampire had lost control. Reagan hadnât even heard his heart stop until the blood had run out. Hearing footsteps approaching, the girl pushed herself into a dark corner, trying to muffle her cries.
Lara could smell the blood from a block away, unable to stop the dark veins under her eyes from appearing. She followed the scent to a dark alley, grateful to get away from the crowd of humans that suddenly looked more like giant hamburgers in her eyes. The dead body she found when she got there was alarming, but the crying girl even more so. âHey, are you okay? We canât stay here.â
