Vox Machina Playlists

I wanted to make a post letting people who are new to Vox Machina know or people who didn’t watch campaign one as it was airing about the character playlists! There are three sets of playlists. One set of playlists was released during the briarwoods arc and shouldn’t have any spoilers for TLOVM. (They won’t have any after the full season is released but I’ll indicate the level of spoilers for the current season below.) I should note that almost all of these stories will hint at backstory information and character motives that might not have been revealed yet in the show. The second set (released mid-campaign) and third set (released at the end of the campaign) would have major spoilers for TLOVM. I have always loved these playlists and have helped me feel understand and connect to Vox Machina on a deeper level and I wanted more people to know about them!

If you started critical role any time before campaign 3 (including EXU!) you’ve probably seen that a few times per campaign the cast puts out playlists for their characters and writes a little blurb about why they chose each song. Because of tlovm I went through and dug up the campaign 1 ones to listen to bc….Vox Machina brain. (If you are new to Critical Role and were unaware they existed: There are official playlists! Go listen to them! You will feel things! Good luck!) 

The actual playlists are available on the Critical Role Spotify, but because of the split from G&S I found that it took a little searching to find the associated cast annotations because unless someone else has found it I don’t think they’re all linked in the same location anywhere. So, I collected all of the posts for me and anyone else who wants them to be easier to find! These are the annotations for the first cr1 playlists (out of 3), which read like they were actually put out around the end of the Briarwood arc, so they’re super relevant for where the characters are or will be soon right now in tlovm.

If you’re new to tlovm or campaign 1 and don’t want to be spoiled beware of vague/scattered spoilers through the cast playlist annotations and especially in the DM/NPC playlist annotations.
