I'm at the train station, headed home and I'm getting unreasonably emotional about the pigeons here. I don't have the extra cash to get food so I can't even give them anything and seeing them in the state they are in is making me sad. They were our companions. And we dumped them. And now their descendants are treated as nothing more than a common pest and they're usually either missing legs or eyes but they look up at me with such innocence in their eyes. I'm trying not to cry but it's getting harder the more I look at them.

most of the time, the pincers are the only part of them that actually sits above the ground! the rest of them is buried at the bottom of a steep pit they dig that ants and other small insects just kind of helplessly tumble into constantly in a very warner-brothers fashion.

so, yeah. they just spend all their larva time being an insect-centered horror movie monster, until they pupate.
