Hello, I just wanted to ask but before that OMG, you're one of my favorite Rayman artists ever! I'm so happy to come back in a while, since, well I'm going to explain it on my future posts but as I was saying— I wanted to ask about my name, I created this account to start posting my drawing since I wanted to be accepted by people who doesn't judge me for the smallest things, I'm not going to explain much but, my name is Valencherry/V•Cherry but I have a problem with that, since I searched to make sure if there was other people having it too and... I found out that yes, there it is and a software, A SOFTWARE!? I felt bad cus I really liked that name and I thought I was the only one who had that name, it's just a few people but it's difficult for me to say, it's just a lot so... I'll try to explain it simple: I want to be someone in life, be an artist and make animations too, to be recognizes but I don't know if I need a name that no one else has, and I'm afraid of people in the future saying that I copied the names of those people, even there is just a few people like I said before, why? ahh my anxious mind, but if I have to change my name I could, but I ask you if it's okay to have a name no much people know about. Also I just have posted 2 drawings here and on Instagram so maybe I'm just exaggerating, sorry about that but I'm glad to get your opinion, thank you and see ya!(⁠ ⁠；⁠∀⁠；⁠)

Hello! First of all, thank you for your words. It surprised me that I can be someone's favorite artist, so thank you again. Your reasons for having a new account were the same as mine, so I understand you very well.

To answer your question, as someone who is also very anxious here online and posts here as a hobby, I think it's totally okay to have a nickname that already exists on social media. If you like it and you feel that that name represents you, then go for it! I also found out that my name already existed, and it was from a youtuber lol. I was worried too that someone would point it out, but that never happened; consequently, I decided to keep it anyway.

I don't think having a particular name is important for being recognizable. Your works will. If people really like your art, they'll find you eventually, even if you change your name (because that's also a scenario multiple artists face here on social media).

Of course, if you want to build a serious portfolio, that's a different story. But I'm really not a professional with that, so I'm no help, unfortunately. :')

So, in conclusion, your name doesn't have to define you, nor be your whole personality here; you can even change it several times and still be recognizable by your art and animations. :)

Species names and explanations under the cut!

Lupin is a great tit, because great tits are actually the most deranged and feral of small birds, although few people except for bird-lovers know about this "skeleton in the closet" of theirs. But these cuties can murder other small birds and eat their brains… In captivity, a tit is a universal destroyer of everything it can reach, and there were cases when these little demons unscrewed screws and dropped shelves. So their beak is not only a murder weapon, but also a universal tool of chaos.

Yata is a jackdaw because, as I mentioned earlier, the word "crow" is woven into his full name. I was also told on here that Yatagarasu is the name of a Japanese deity in the form of a large crow with three legs, which only reinforced my already existing association of this character with a corvid bird. But he’s quite thin and light so he didn't look like a raven or a crow in my head, I needed something more elegant and nimble. The choice fell on a jackdaw as a smaller and more graceful member of the corvids, but no less quick-witted.

Zenigata is a grey-faced buzzard because I initially associated him with some diurnal bird of prey. Not with an owl because owls are quite sedentary and prefer to hunt from an "ambush" in short strikes from a perch, while he is all for prolonged persistent pursuit; and not with a falcon because falcons are too small and fit, and we have a really bulky man here. At the same time an eagle would hardly care about a small titmouse. So I landed in the middle, on a not too small but not too large buzzard. Plus, this particular species is common in Japan.

The sizes lineup is not entirely realistic, but this was done on purpose to make it more convenient to draw their interactions with each other. I'll also do the rest of the gang as birds, but a little later ;)

I hope they really do look like themselves while keeping their species somewhat identifiable because this was the main challenge here! I had to invert the colors on Lupin’s belly from those of real titmice for the sake of imitating a green jacket design more closely.
