Y’all. Motherhood never stops surprising me. I’ve spent the last almost 13 years now protecting this one. Doing everything in my power to see him grow and learn and to flourish. But listen when he told me that HE not his Dad was fixing my breakfast, it took everything in me not to bawl. When I tired to help a little and he told me to sit down somewhere , I may or may not have wiped away a tear🥺 It’s times like these that I see that I am doing a good job despite my worries. 30/30: me at the end. Well 6 months and a few mishaps later , my uterus finally got evicted. Trying my hardest to get evicted from this hospital today but everything moves at it’s own pace. This photo wouldn’t have happened if we weren’t all vaccinated for COVID. ⠀ As a family, we love to travel. We love to go places, we love to eat out. But for two years, I was THAT parent who basically lived with the fear that one of us would get severely ill from COVID. If I’m really honest, I worried that I would get it and pass it on to Pookah, who has asthma. ⠀ For over a year, we didn’t go anywhere. I didn’t see my elderly mother for a year. I didn’t get to meet my brand new niece and nephew. ⠀ We masked up every time we left the house. Basically, we put our lives on hold. ⠀ Enter the COVID vaccines.When the vaccines were approved for adults, we got it. As soon as Pookah was able to get it, he got vaccinated. ⠀ Why? Because we wanted to be safe. We wanted to be able to go back to doing things we loved. ⠀ So far this year, there have been over 5 million COVID cases among children under 18 in the U.S. ⠀ The Omicron variant caught up with our house and Pookah tested positive. I cried. OMG, I cried. ⠀ But because he was vaccinated, he was protected against the worst effects of COVID. I believe that because my husband and I were not only vaccinated but BOOSTED, we avoided getting COVID ourselves. ⠀ Vaccines basically saved our lives. Vaccines mean we have started feeling more comfortable going out. Vaccines mean that I feel better about Pookah going to school and hanging out with friends. Vaccines mean that we feel more comfortable getting back to a sense of normalcy by going on vacation, eating out, and getting back to the places we love. ⠀ CDC and the American Academy of Pediatrics both recommend all children 5 and older get a COVID vaccine as soon as possible. And they recommend that every one 12+ who is vaccinated get a booster shot. ⠀ COVID vaccines are the most closely monitored vaccines in U.S. history and are being monitored just as closely in children. ⠀ Pookah gets his booster shot next month and we can’t wait. ⠀ Remember, talk to your doctor. PLEASE talk to your child’s pediatrician about any questions you may have about COVID vaccines. AD: Are you like me and struggle with helping your kids with homework these days? ⠀ Confession: Pookah showed me his math homework and I literally cringed. ⠀ Middle school geometry was not my thing then and definitely is not my thing now! LOL ⠀ Luckily we have @mathnasium . ⠀ Mathnasium is a great place right in our neighborhood that is a great place for kids to learn math and have fun. ⠀ The Mathnasium method teaches math in a way that makes sense to kids. Each child is individually assessed so that they can have a customized learning plan to give them exactly what they need. ⠀ Thank goodness because this level of math is not my wheelhouse. ⠀ I love how the instructors set aside time to provide homework help if needed. ⠀ They help kids understand the assignment so that they can go home and complete it as needed. ⠀ Remember kids can learn in the center or at home, whichever way works best for you and it's year-round!
