‘Great. Considering’. Considering? A flash of concern sweeps over the blonde’s face at the word. Though he finds that he doesn’t have enough time to question it before Kurt is moving swiftly on. Jez smiles softly between Kurt’s hands and offers a gentle squeeze to his shoulders, “It really is me. In the flesh.” There’s a soft teasing tone to his words, though his face betrays him, open in his own expression of surprise. Frankly, Jez can’t believe he is here either, and with no ticking countdown timer like the last time — the boy has never felt so… free.
His long suffering friends had been forced to listen to Jez jabbering on about Kurt to no end for a good 80% of their trip. (‘Oh God Lauren, he’s great. So talented and UTTER TALENT to boot.’) And strangely, it was as though they had predicted how difficult going back home would be for him before Jez had even really considered it. In that time, seeing Kurt had simply become his new normal. In fact, it wasn’t until the pair were saying their goodbyes that it really hit him. The sudden realisation that their dance practices and coffee dates catchups would no longer be a regular occurrence.
“Three weeks,” Jez nodded, with a smile aimed towards their grasped hands. “I was going to call, trust me I really, really wanted to I just- I was here with BB and, between him and trying to find a place to live I’ve not had two seconds to breathe.” Still, there was laughter following his words. As much of a mad rush as the last three weeks had been, he wouldn’t have traded it for anything. “But, BB’s on a plane-” he looks to his watch, “right about now, actually - headed to Spain. I decided to stick around here for a little bit longer.”
Kurt’s eyebrows shot up. Three weeks? Three weeks? There was so many things they could have done by now. So much catching up. So many nights where he could have sank into the happy content of what it felt like when he jad Jez around. Thinking of that for only two beats before common sense kicked the thought out of his head, Kurt bounced against his heels and realized. Why wish their time away? When it was only just starting? They had all those things he regretted not sharing, there to share together now. Jez was here, in the flesh, and Kurt’s heart was racing so fast? He swore it was about ready to beat right through his ribs and soar sky high, never to be seen again. Would serve him right. Jez wasn’t the only one deafening those closest to him that would listen when it came to talking about the other.
Rachel had gotten an ear full time and time again about Jez. How sweet he was. How talented he was. How Kurt wished he could stay. Jez was breathtaking fresh air. And so handsome. One of the many adjectives that passed through Kurt’s lips unendingly when he ranted about the other. Not to mention dealing with the aftermath of how he’d speak about him when he was gone. Or the good solid couple of weeks were Kurt got quiet after he left. Rachel dealt with that, too. Knowing the quiet had a lot more meaning behind it than Kurt wanted to admit to anyone. Including her.
Nodding, he followed Jez’s smile to their hands and tightened his hold rather than let go. “I know how crazy that feels but you did it! And look! We, finally, met--live? You were finding a place to live? As in..how long do you have to stay? This time, I mean?” Keeping his right hand tangled with Jez’s left, he gently pulled him into motion. “Because, wow, we have a lot to catch up on. Plus. I need to show you so many things we missed. I might have made a list. The title of which is too embarrassing to share. So don’t ask,” he grinned teasingly.
