Well, there are two “personal” rules I always follow when drawing Mickey: one is that I never draw him smoking, but I do draw him drinking some kind of hard liquor (as for smoking, he came to absolutely hate it because Walt’s office smelled of tobacco, to the point that one day he had had enough and called him out on it)

Another thing is his fur and eye color. I always paint him a very, very dark brown—but brown—for three reasons: because there are brown mice, because his color palette is warm, and because Walt Disney had brown hair and brown eyes

(He has black fur, and I see that sometimes his eye color is blue or brown; I like those too, especially if he has black fur and brown eyes—for some reason, he looks really cute that way.)
