This is a fun graphic. Note that even though his height is almost always mentioned, Nicholas II was NOT the shortest ruler of Russia. Below, see the conversion to feet and inches of the heights in centimeters for those not conversant with the metric system:
Peter - 203 cm / 6’ 7.9”
Alexander III - 190 cm / 6’ 2.8 “
Anna Ivanovna - 189 cm / 6’ 2.4”
Nicholas I - 189 cm / 6’ 2.4”
Alexander II - 185 / 6’ 08
Elizabeth I - 177 / 5’ 9.7”
Alexander I - 178 cm / 5’ 10.1”
Nicholas II - 170 cm / 5’ 6.9”
Peter III - 170 cm / 5’ 6.9”
Paul I - 166 cm / 5’ 5”

Perhaps the most alarming such incident involved Queen Victoria herself, as her mother described:
She [The Queen] was not always so lenient towards the behaviour of small children. I remember when Alice was a little girl of four, she, like many grandchildren and great-grandchildren before her, refused to kiss Grandmama’s hand, and when Grandmama, in a severe voice, said “naughty child’ and slapped her hand, Alice slapped back, saying “Naughty Grandmama.” I had hurriedly to remove the offender.

“no diamonds.” | victoria & albert’s wedding day, real vs. reel.
Queen Victoria, 1847 Queen Victoria is depicted dressed in her wedding wreath of orange blossom flowers and her wedding veil, with the small collar of the Garter. She also wears the brooch Prince Albert gave her on their wedding day and the ear-rings and necklace made from the Turkish diamonds given to her by the Sultan Mahmúd II in 1838. She noted in her Journal that the painting was ‘a surprise for my beloved Albert, for 10th of Feb’. It was placed in the Prince’s Dressing Room at Windsor. Signed and dated: Fr Winterhalter. Inscribed on the back with the names of the sitter and artist and the date, 1847, with the date of the Queen’s marriage, 10 February 1840.Provenance

THE SIRENS SONG.
--------------------------
I hear singing o'er the water,
Sirens songs and laughter,
Calling to me, come to me.
Whispers from the ocean,
That set my soul in motion,
Wait for me, please wait for me.
------------------------------
The moon is in the glassy sea,
The sky is red, as red can be,
And beyond the pier my lovers wait.
Hurry, hurry, the Sirens song,
My journeys taking way too long,
And I fear that I will be too late.
------------------------------
And then I'm in their ice cold arms,
Lost forever to their Sirens charms,
Drowning, sinking, weeping.
And all too late I realise,
The love that's in the Sirens eyes,
Is not the love that I was seeking.
