i love working on this section ♡
super stoked to finally reach this section. i've been pushing faster than usual through the last two just so i could get here quicker. i've been working this part out in my head for awhile and as i get started on it, i am tingling with excitement. it's already so much better than i imagained. i am going to do a video for igtv. i think it will be cool to have a longer non-live option for sharing my process...especially for this part. 😁
this current wip is really satisfying to work on and look at. i used to be self-conscious about saying how much i loved my work...but if i didn't why the heck would i be doing it? of course i love it. of course i think it's amazing. wow, that felt good to say outloud! love your work and love yourself!
when the ropey tendrils overlap...it gets tight to knot under them. sorry that my work slid to the side a bit.
i've been wanting to make an actual work in progess post of my latest piece (aka not a quick story shot)...but i kept thinking "once i finish this bit" or this one or that one. which sort of defeats the whole point of a wip post. so here's a full shot and some detail shots. and a reminder not to always wait until everything is "just right" to do the things you want to do.
so i started an art-only account. i’ve been wanting a place besides my art blog to keep all things art for awhile now. not because i plan to stop posting it here, i’m still gonna make the same art posts on both accounts. i just want a stand alone thing for those who don’t want all the family/food/dogs/life posts. and it’s cool to have a link to share that’s just art if the need arises. like when i want to market myself a bit 🤤 as @laurabowman.artist
a cute little 4x4 painting i made for my bff’s bday. why is this such a fun and relaxing design to play with?? i want to make more!
i haven't made an art post in a while...but i work on it almost every day. this piece, while still keeping to the form i imagined, is definitely becoming something so much more than my original sketch and i love it.
i'm really excited about where this is going. i'm working from a sketch (which i rarely do) but allowing for organic growth...because sometimes the strings do not lend themselves too well to the ideas in my head. like this new section with the blue. i knew i was going to use more color as i moved down the piece...then i added this new part that wasn't on the sketch and it wanted the blue. 😁

i was so excited to find the march issue of textile fibre forum magazine in the mailbox a few days ago. i love the layout of my artist profile.
any day now... it's an odd feeling to hold something and work on it for many months (over four!!) and then suddenly be almost done. it's not sadness. or even joy. i don't know what it is. maybe it's missing. i will miss it. but not sadly like when they are sold. it's an emotion i struggle with, missing...i so rarely feel it. but i do love this piece so much.
i’ve been working on this since the beginning of december, only working sporadically at first as my morning practice got strong again. the last month i’ve really dug in and have found it’s pretty much all i want to do. but life is a thing. so i’ve been stretching my morning practice out longer before i walk away from it and start the work/life part of my day. 🏠 i don’t think i’ve ever been more in love with a piece ♡
super excited about the march issue of textile fibre forum magazine…can’t wait to see my artist profile in print.
i only made three posts last month. i did a lot of stories, but only committed one to an actual post. i just haven’t felt like sharing in that way. because unlike stories, i use posts as a way to share more…in words. and that takes more thought and effort for me. 😊 it’s been a dark, difficult month, even with all the warm days we had. but march is here (my bday month!!) and spring is, hopefully, right around the corner. to celebrate the coming of sunshine and brightness, i am sharing this colorful picture of a purse i was commissioned to paint. i love it. but seeing my friend’s face when i gave it to her was the real treat. happy spring, y'all! ♡♡♡
