Something Told Still Life

For this brief we were to create a still life which told a story. I knew right away that I wanted to crate something that spoke about the taboo topics in a typical females life.

I sat and thought about what topics aren't commonly spoke about in everyday life when it comes to these topics but yet every woman in their life has.

Each object in this image symbolises a topic which is frowned upon.

Makeup - We either wear too much or too litte

Perfume - We should always smell pretty

Razor - There is pressure to shave off body hair instead of embracing it

Vibrator - One of the most taboo topics is female masturbation if men do it and it is spoke about why should it be a different rule for a different gender?

Pad - There is still little conversation about menstruation whether it is growing up at home or being educated in sex ed classes

Fishnets - For years these tights have been sexualised on bodies when it is a perfectly acceptable piece of fashion clothing

Bra - Breasts have become a sexual organ to another eyes so much so that is frowned upon for mothers to breast feed in public to "protect" children and passerby's

Underwear - It is still common for people to think that buying typical 'sexy' underwear is for someones partner but why can't we just buy and wear clothes because we find it cute or comfortable to wear?

I decided to choose objects that are pink as this is thought of as a feminine colour

Lighting Up The Dark

For my lighting up the dark brief, I decided to photograph the shipbuilding statues that were recently built in my local park. Using a torch I lit up a different part of this statue and merged them together using the layer masking method in Photoshop.

I created a poster using Canva and added it to a template for advertising the eco shop.

Creative Carbon Still Life

I chose to focus my still life on the reusable water bottle as it is an easy solution to lowering your day to day plastic use. I decided to add some flowers that I had pressed to my image to show the meaning of growth that can happen from choosing to replace one simple object with another and how that can affect our plastic waste.

Creative Carbon

I decided to base this project on a local refill shop called Inver Eco based in Greenock, Inverclyde. In this store they offer a variety of different refillable products such as spices, pasta and even shampoo.

They have other products for sale such as reusable teabags, toiletries and water bottles.

Zine Project (being updated as i go)

March 22nd

For my zine project, I have decided to focus on the vegan lifestyle and photograph different vegan food recipes that I make at home and include information about going vegan throughout the zine.

This zine is aimed towards those looking to move to a plant-based diet wanting to find recipes and information.

Most of my research that I am including in the zine is taken from The Vegan Society which is a company focused on educating those looking to turn to veganism.

To create this zine I am using Adobe Indesign to create an easy to read zine with graphic design elements to it.

March 28th

I've been working on various recipes throughout my zine and have visited local places to eat offering vegan food as part of my research and taken pictures of the food available there to add to my zine as part of the 'eating out' pages showing where vegan food is available in restaurants/cafes around Glasgow.
