Dear Evan Hansen (2021)
An iconic moment from every B99 episode: The Bet 1x13
“…I thought I was broken and I thought I was used up and I thought I had nothing left to give. I’d given everything and I didn’t really know what was left. But there’s a part of us that is unbreakable. You always find it again.”
— Emma Watson (via thequotejournals)
Bonus:
“I’m not the silly romantic you think. I don’t want the heavens or the shooting stars. I don’t want gemstones or gold. I have those things already. I want a steady hand. A kind soul. I want to fall asleep, and wake, knowing my heart is safe. I want to love, and be loved.”
— To Be Loved / Love (via writingllama)

micro-dosing on therapy by smoking a blunt & listening to the tiny god inside my brain telling me to get a fucking grip

Mary followed her, although it was with some reluctance. Like she didn’t believe that she deserved food. She wasn’t sure which part she should lead with. The detrimental part… or the part that she knew would have the least consequences. She had no intentions to lie, at least. But fully telling the truth? That was more difficult than she bargained for. “I went out last night. And…” Going out in itself wasn’t bad. It was everything that happened when she went out. “I slept with Charlie,” she blurted out. The rest… that was probably clear from her alleged illness.
Malcolm listened carefully, trying to put the pieces together. Although his mind never would have gone to it being someone they knew. Someone like that. “Dolled up?” He smirked, “I bet you made sure she wasn’t by the end of the night!” He laughed, punching Charlie square in the arm like a boxer. “It matters because if you dip your toes back in its a good sign! You’ve got to start getting out there for real. Dating. You’ve got to have a date to my wedding.”
Laura walked into the kitchen, pulling out a chair for Mary to sit before going over to sort through the food she’d brought for her. She listened closely as Mary started, finishing the rest of that sentence with so many different scenarios. She got drunk, she got high, she got taken advantage of - there were so many horrible ways it could go. None of the scenarios Laura made up in that short span of time included Charlie, though. She looked over at Mary, obviously surprised. She knew they’d kissed before, and Laura wasn’t an idiot. She could see how the tension and banter between the two could play out. But it was just so unexpected, even on Charlie’s side. “Well… that’s not the worst thing,” Laura said cautiously. “Assuming you were in the right mindset to decide to sleep with Charlie?”
“Ow!” Charlie complained, reflexively punching the man back on the arm. He huffed and moved over to put their plates together. “No she’s not- I wouldn’t date her. It’s not like that,” he said, shaking his head. “You say it’s a good sign like I’m some divorced, lonely forty year old.” He hadn’t asked Morag, but he was sure she would end up being his date anyways for the wedding.

For too long, Malcolm had felt a huge divide between himself and his eldest son. He hadn’t known how to handle it since his own father had never managed, but there was a great deal of happiness to be found in the solution. His excitable exterior wavered slightly. He knew that he was right - and he could guess what Chuck was saying pretty easily. “Sound just like her…” He grabbed a handful of grass and ripped it up. “Fine. Fine, I won’t say a word to her.” His hands raised. It was a fair request to make. “Can I have a time frame or-” Chances were, if he told Charlie, Charlie might tell Mary who might tell Laura. It had happened plenty of times before.
Chuck thought about it for a moment, leaning back as he did. He let his elbows rest on the ground to prop him up, looking over at his dad. "I don't know. Alice and I never even really discussed how long we would wait," he said. "I guess I'll have to tell the wife first and see how she reacts," he said, smiling as he said 'the wife' in what he deemed as a grown-up voice. He let out a content sigh as he laid back fully on the grass, looking up at the sky. There were clouds, but the sun was still warm on his face. "Did you think it would happen?" he asked his dad, after a moment of silence. "That I would have a kid and get married and all that," he clarified.

Malcolm already knew exactly how Chuck was feeling. He had a feeling that they felt things similarly - completely and without restraint. The trouble was knowing what to do with those feelings. Long gone were the days where Mac would swallow them whole until they created a monster in the pit of his stomach. He could only hope that this was the beginning of Chuck embracing his anxieties and delight all at once, just like he had learned to do when his own children were born. “Of course.” If anyone understood, it was him. Only the first person he had told about his own spontaneous marriage was Charlie. “My lips are sealed.” They both knew that wasn’t technically true. How could he keep something like that to himself? “Mostly. Half way. Ah!” He dragged Chuck in for another kiss. “I’m super proud of you, you know that, kid?”
Chuck let out a warm laugh as his father continued to smother him with affection. It occurred to him for a moment that he couldn't remember the last time they'd had a proper moment like that. When it came to Alice being pregnant, Chuck was still nervous by the time his parents knew. There had been the whisper in his father's ear that he had a grandson before the rest of the family knew the gender, but they'd been in a hospital and it was contained. This was his dad allowing himself to be as happy as he felt for his son, and Chuck was basking in it. "You can't tell mama," Chuck said, meeting his eye. "She'll be upset I haven't told her." They were working on it - communicating. "And then she'll call me all - Ragazzo, lo sai che puoi parlare anche con me?" he said, doing a pretty good impression of his mother in the process. "You can tell... Uncle Charlie." Surely he was safe. He smiled, nudging his dad with his elbow. "I know."
