I’m super excited but seeing people complain about Michaela replacing Michael pisses me off because I can’t even count how many times a sapphic plot line has been cut from a piece of mainstream media just to make it more appealing to straight audiences and I had to just stfu and deal with it bc no one else cared :/

Given what happened in season 4 if Eloise was season 5 it would have to be rushed because nothing had been set up for her, so having her story start in season 5 (letter writing, Marina death) will make her story better in the long run, whereas Franchaela were perfectly set up at the end of season 4 and having season 5 not been about them would have lost that momentum. Fran wouldn’t have had anything to do in season 5 other than mourn if it was Eloise’s season, whereas Eloise can now have a good side plot that sets up her story in season 6 with Phillip.

You can see that John was surprised as well when Francesca told him that she had also taken part in Michaela's drinking game and had stayed up till midnight this is probably the first time he has seen the influence Michaela has on Francesca and how she is more willing and open to new experiences that involve Michaela and he is definitely pleased by the fact that Michaela brings Frannie out of her shell and thinks that this could bring them together
