Dear @laurence-philomene…
I’ve admired your photography since seeing your interview with Dazed and Confused, but not only are you an artistic hero of mine, you’re also a personal hero.
People always talk about valuing uniqueness, but you’re one of the few I’ve actually seen doing it. I’ve been lost for quite a long time, unsure who I am and unsure what to call myself, but since seeing your work I’ve come to realise the vastness and beauty of gender identities, and I now feel that the term ‘non-binary’ may be perfect for me. The people in your works express themselves the way they want, and their courage has now become my courage– I don’t need a label, really, but I feel that the openness of a non-binary identity provides the perfect amount of unrestricted individual freedom. Now I can finally find a place where I belong, without feeling the pressure to conform… and that’s all thanks to you! ✨🌸
You’ve inspired me to be more passionate about myself, and helped me to further piece together the puzzle that is my identity. And I want to thank you for that. From the bottom of my heart.
Sincerely, a devoted fan.
thank you this is the sweetest thing ever!!!

Hi everyone!
My name is Bao. I’ve already made a post about this but I’m making another one, this time with samples of my work. (Samples of my work above, I am very passionate about light design)
I’m a 22 year old photographer living in New York. I’m self taught and have very little access to resources. I’m passionate about light and bright colors. I’ve been taking pictures for 9 years now, and I’m interested in moving to film.
My friends Rochelle, Flora, Sadie and I have been working on this short experimental fairytale for several months now. We’ve quietly been working on the screenplay, costume design, and just planning this entirely. It’s about a child born from a moonbeam landed in a river who tries to navigate her way around two worlds that both reject her. We centered this story around our experiences as people who are caught between two worlds or binaries, neither of which are accepting. Flora is mixed race, Rochelle is nonbinary, I’m the child of two immigrants, while Sadie doesn’t know who her biological father is, all she knows is that with her dark hair and olive skin, she looks different from the rest of her blue eyed, blonde haired family. So this story is super close to all of our hearts.
We launched the Indiegogo campaign yesterday and would appreciate any/all support we can get– even words of encouragement and shares/reblogs if you can’t or don’t want to contribute financially are so appreciated :) We already paid for the bulk of the expenses out of our own pockets– the fundraiser will not at all be responsible for the cost of our plane tickets (which are already booked), accommodations (also already booked), living expenses, etc and will mostly be for post production costs and reimbursing our costume designer.
https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/wisp–2/ if you would like to help us out at all <3 I never thought I’d do a fundraiser for a project because I never thought people really cared about my art but I’ve already cried once because people are so kind. I love you all.
