hey everyone, just curious:

what is everyone's criteria for blocking people?

this whole subgenre of anime music or idol projects of *thing* as cute anime characters is probably deeply rooted in japan's youkai and kami culture, the love to give every object and abstract concept a sould and a personality really reminds me of tsukimogami stories. as absurd and cashgrabby as they can get they're a pretty interesting phenomenon if you think about it. i think that's also why scp and anomaly-searching games like exit 8 and jsp popped off so much in japan specifically, it all goes back to modern youkai

anyways a while ago i tried to compile a list of projects that follow this formula just for fun. there are certainly way more comprehensive lists but it's so fun to dig up these by myself so any suggestions very welcome no matter the quality

definitely not a thought worthy of a twitter or info blog post but all the accidental parallels between pikto/sabapi and hection/sakana duos are driving me up the wall like. if you look hard enough they're almost perfect foils to each other being quite similar but still having very different relationship with each other and their peers. take both pikto and hection being standalone performers with a nice singing voice except pikto generally sucks at everything he does in a charming fashion so he usually plays it safe and almost never has power over whatever situation he's in while hection is all for the drama spectacle and putting people in danger acting as this clever mastermind but suddenly turning helpless when that power is taken away from him formally dressed weird white thing + fish guy with a few undiagnosed mental disorders is somehow a duo flavor that happened TWICE in the same friend circle with mizuki as a common denominator these are things that only happen in mcyt i swear to god i don't think they ever had proper interaction as duos tho outside of kdrkov and that's such a shame cause i do really think sabapi and sakana could have some fun interactions with such strong personalities but oh well. their little stgr squad is still kinda its own thing but i do find it interesting how mizuki seemingly switched from hanging out with sakanaction (yes actual duo name) that often the moment takayuu picked him up and he hit it off with hyou. almost as if he wasn't impressed by their approach huh

it really sucks that theres pretty much no way to properly document and archive fandom culture. fandom thrives in fast-paced social circles so events and inside jokes just get swept away with time, there's pretty much no way to write down and do some academic research with things that are constantly in motion!! and that sucks for so many reasons!! fandom spaces are interesting as fuck for culturology and other humanitarian studies, but other than that newcomers just can't have the experience people before them had, which is totally natural but with zero recordings of let's say common AUs and ships people late to the party will have to do so much digging to piece together why the modern fandom (or its remains) is like that. and that's not even taking in accounts all the languages at play like even chinese web has a giant problem with documenting seemingly popular phenomena and creators which SUUUCKS

all that to say - your fandom blog matters, your silly fanart matters, your ramblings and pointless analysis matter, stupid bullshit you post on main cataloguing every possible ship name or resources to read or watch your favorite anime? give it five years and some teen on tumblr will treat your ramblings like ancient scrolls!! even tumblr and twitter will be wiped out, but people will still want to enjoy things, discover remains of a community they missed out on and then maybe transform those memories into an experience of their own!!!! shit will go down with history, but someone has to be a scribe, or all of our fun will just crash and burn!!!!!!

i keep remembering colopale talking about their plans for the sixth pjsk unit themed around traditional japanese music and with the SIXTH ANNI coming up i highly doubt we're ever getting it but one thing keeps bugging me. where the fuck is hifumi. one of THE two vocalops beside hanyuu maigo whose whole deal is using folk instruments and visual style. insert battat next to a conspiracy board gif but i refuse to let go of the idea that theyre keeping him for that slight opportunity of debuting a new unit. and pjsk has been recycling their older producers for commissions lately so it all would make sense except the whole damn possible backlog of songs they could've given them is already out the window. like odoryanse has a cover, kami no manimani has a cover, aun no beats has a cover, it's not like it's a super popular subgenre so they're not left with much to work with if the unit is indeed in the works but maybe they would conjure something up? alt unit vocals? no idea at this point but i've been mourning this non-existent unit like a dead wife sinse the day i learned it had ever been considered cause it would be so damn cool man. onomatopetenshi. hana ga ochiru made. tonchinkan no en. bakemonogurui. come on sega DO SOMETHING

A lot of people seem to mix up ‘community’ with ‘friend group’ so when they read ‘no one should be abandoned by the community. No matter what they did’ they think it means ‘you have to be friends with abusers’. When in reality it means ‘no matter what someone does they shouldnt be left to go homeless and be denied financial, housing, medical, etc aid’

You don’t have to be friends with these people, no one is saying that. It’s just saying that you should support rehabilitative justice, support programs that help homeless people, support funding for free medical services, and make sure they don’t turn away anyone who needs help.
