“It’s incredible.” Cassie promised as she pulled the safety belt across her torso. The Book Thief was the author’s more popular novel, but this one too had struck a chord with her. She started the car and headed towards the road. “It sounds like a great read. I’ll definitely have to get it myself.” The description more than sparked her interest, even if the topic did seem a little too close to home. “And absolutely not. This is the perfect time of night for philosophical conversation.” Cassie grinned. Her rule generally stuck to between 9 PM and 5 AM for anything truly deep.
Lauren couldn’t deny just how much fun she was having. Cassie had been the first person to spark Lauren’s interest so quickly and so casually. There was something about her that was comforting. “Where have you been all my life??” Lauren theatrically joked. “Okay, next question. It’s a two-parter. And it’s very important.” For the sake of adding on a dramatic effect (and mostly for her own amusement) Lauren paused. Then went on, “If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go? AND --” Lauren could feel herself growing more animated, “-- AND, what book would you bring with you?”
