Dar knows perfectly well, from Tanzania's own data, that 80% of HIV infections are from hetero sex, 18% from mother to child transmission, and 1.8% blood-borne. They aren't rounding up queers to fight .2% of HIV transmission. Shutting down VVU/Ukimwi education doesn't stop homosexuality. All it does is spread infection and suffering. So does banning lube. This is all stupid hatred. Don't forget for a moment, anyone feeling superior in the US and UK, that Tanzania's anti-gay laws are colonial leftovers (or that laws against gay sexuality weren't overturned in the US until Lawrence v. Texas on 2003. We've been sending dumbasses like me teaching sex-ed on vacation (I don't know how to operate a condom!) with generous donations of "Louisiana Editions" of science textbooks. (I don't know what makes science especially Louisianan, but I'm guessing it ain't peer-review.) For years South and East Africa have been getting regular visits from the Family Research Council (you know--that hate group our president will be ranting before) and their ilk spreading this bullshit. PEPFAR was great, the best thing Dubya ever did (which isn't saying much), but mandating abstinence-only education is even dumber than this shit, because we have so much access to so much irrefutable evidence that it's murderous trash.
