Evaluation â
I have researched different reasons for and against the decrease of film.
There are many components towards this situation.Â
 The feel of film
After Researching I have come to the conclusion that the gain of using film is the feel of when your producing the photographs from scratch. I believe that your part of each step of the photography; From the beginning â Loading up your camera, to the end â Developing the film and using chemicals to make your photographs.
 The look of Film
In my opinion and most the film photographers I have researched, the look of film. The outcomes are more thought about due to the fact your in full control of what you are producing. This could therefore mean you think more about composition, focal points, tonal ranges and more. Also the grain in the photographs is much more beautiful than anything you can produce on a camera.
In my opinion the look of film against the look of digital is one of the main components for why there is still a slight use of film cameras now.
The Cost
The downfall of Film photography after researching each issues is the cost of everything. After doing a questionnaire most people brought up the issue of the cost of film. The contrast is vast comparing the amount of money spent on film, paper, darkroom time and more. Comparing with digital which is a one off payment in which is vast, however once you have paid that you donât have to pay any other add money.
Digital obviously would be the easier choice because there is no limit in shots. Once you have the kit, you are able to produce countless photographs.
On the other hand with film there is a limit, therefore if you do it wrong, you will waste a shot and it will cost you more money.
Learning how to understand Exposure
Even though photography is one talent. Learning how to use a darkroom and a film camera needs more understanding. Contrasting with digital in which there is not much to learn, once you know exposure, you would be able to produce an âokâ photograph.
This is another cost in which you would have to learn how to use equipment. Also the fact some people donât see the point any more wasting money on learning something that is slowing fading away. In this case Film Photography.
 Do It Yourself
After researching different factors to prevent costing issues there are ways around most costing. Firstly if you are able to produce a home dark room that is one costing gone.Â
Secondly you could be creative and make your own camera out of different home products. (camera obscure/ Pinhole camera)
Interview with a student
After getting the results from the questions to Darren. After the debate we had. I still believe the same that I did before.
âI believe a real photographer should take a go at film photography. I believe that if your going to practice photography you should understand most sectors of it. If you never want to try something like that then in my opinion you donât see yourself as anything near an artistâ
After countless research I have realised that photographers that have only taken up photography in the past â5â years donât see the point in doing film photography. This could be for a vast amount of reasons. Some examples are: They just donât see the point, they donât want to fail so therefore donât see a point in trying; The cost or the reason digital is easier.
The outcome of the questions showed me a opposite view to my own, this therefore shows a contrast to the situation. Also proves photographs donât see the point in learning film photography, therefore it is slowing disappearing.
 My Final Thought
In my opinion film photography takes a real photographer to do it. This is because you have to think more about the art of photography. I believe that digital is more up to date and about making money and film is more about the love of the art.
Also another point to remember is that Digital is more reliable for industry work. The price per shoot to produce the photographs is lower. Also you can understand if your photographs are up to scratch during your shoot therefore bettering your images.Â
For photographers there is more reason to use digital photography due to the easier use for editing software, uploading quickly and showing the client the photographs as soon as possible. Using film would make a delay on the client seeing any photography due to developing time.
Overall Digital is easier and cheaper to use, however in my opinion film photography is better due to the fact your in more control of the photograph. I believe the photograph becomes more of an art piece other than just a photograph.
Putting working into action;Â Using negatives to make a photography, However then using digital to produce the actual image.
Questions to Mrs Collins;
Why do you still teach Darkroom Photography?Â
- I enjoy it and wanted others to join in with me.
What type of work do you produce?Â
- Photography and PaintingÂ
What is the reasons for you still teaching Darkroom photography in A level - Do you believe there to be any point to teach the younger photographers this type of photography?
I believe it is better for the younger generation to have the choice for which type of photography they produce in the future for there personal work.
Main Outcome of what she said in bullet points;
Your more in control of a photograph taking it digitally.Â
Film photography is more artistic for the reasons you can take the photograph, focus, print ... your there every step of the way which is very interesting.Â
The feeling when you have printed an amazing photograph and you have produce it every step.

PHOTOGRAPHY JOB AND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Photography work is highly appealing and thus jobs will continue to be highly competitive. This is especially so in news and commercial photography, as demand is often greater than job supply. The most successful and self-employing freelance photographers will be skilled in technical and artistic abilities and be business adept. Specialized knowledge in a certain area, such as computers, is also very useful for prospective employees to know.
Photographer employment rates are projected to grow along the occupational average over the next eight years. Demand should rise with the population. As photography becomes electronic, greater numbers of photographers will have to provide the media publications with digital images.
This expansion of the use of digital photography also places obstacles in front of job growth. It is becoming much more convenient for any photographer to produce and store digital images. Consumers and industries are also able to access these pictures easier, providing more photographers with contracts. This reduced demand will also result from newspaper decline.

Secondary Research -
To mark the 50th anniversary of Marilyn Monroe's death, the National Portrait Gallery is staging a free display of photographs documenting the actress's connections with Britain. Photographs and magazine covers, vintage prints and film stills trace the transformation of the world famous star from popular pin-up to acclaimed actress between 1947 and 1962. During the year 1956 Monroe spent four months in Britain for The Prince and The Showgirl and photographs by Larry Burrows for Life magazine are included in the exhibition. Pictures of Monroe in a yellow bikini, and meeting the Queen are shown along with photographs taken by Cecil Beaton and a recently acquired photograph of British Pop artist Pauline Boty pictured in front of her painting of Monroe.
 About National Portrait Gallery
The National Portrait Gallery houses portraits of significant figures from the late 15th century to the present day. This isn't the place to come for serious works of exceptional artistic merit - the overriding aim of the National Portrait Gallery is to reflect the status of the sitter, not the artist - but where else in London could you hope to find The Beatles, Henry VIII, Sir Richard Branson and JK Rowling all hanging out together? The appeal of this gallery (opened in 1856) rests simply in its comprehensive commemoration of British history from the late 15th century to the present day through the medium of portraiture. More about National Portrait Gallery
Marilyn Monroe: A British Love Affair Thoughts By Lauren Lawlor;Â
In my opinion I like the grain on some of the photographs. Also I like the tonal ranges. In my opinion I am not to sure on which photographs are digital and which ones were film, however I believed that each photograph was perfect in the shades and compositions.
