Curious...
So I accepted a grad job a few months ago which is kinda an important life update. But when I tell people (that i think would want to know) they typically donât say âcongratulations!â And respond with 'ahhh okâ
I donât get it. Did I do something wrong? Do they think Iâve chosen the wrong career path? Do they think Iâm not good enough for the job? Are they jealous? Or am I simply surrounding myself with ppl who are at the end of the day, not really my friends. Im not expecting to be showered with praise but some type of interest in the job would have been nice.
Guess I have to work extra hard to prove ppl wrong.
âWhether you come back by page or by the big screen, Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home.â â J.K. Rowling
1. Who you are now is not who you will be in 10 years. It is okay to be somebody new 10 minutes from now. We are always learning. We are always growing. If you realized 10 seconds ago that you donât like who you are, shed your skin, retry, replant yourself in good soil. 2. Cleaning is instant therapy. When your brain is muddy, take a shower, wash your hands, change your clothes. Spend 15 minutes straightening your living room. When you are angry, scrub things. I know itâs crazy but it works instantly. 3. Forgive someoneâs debt if itâs under 50 dollars, forgive the small things, give a little time to yourself and forgive the big things too. Forgiveness isnât about the other person, itâs about you. That being said - if someone ever hurts you in a way that would make me cry to know, you get out of there, my love. You just get up and go. 4. Gum karma is real and if you spit out a piece in public expect to find some on your shoe in the future. Same goes for insults and harsh judgement, too. 5. Do what you love and the money will follow. 6. Live your life with an open palm and give as much as you can and as often. At some point in your life, someone will lend you 50 bucks when youâre down on your luck. Remember how that feels. Remember to give that back. 7. Always wear clean underwear. Youâll thank me later. 8. There is a difference between being kind and being passive and there are those who cannot see that difference. They will try to walk all over you. Never bend your knees for those who do. 9. Have faith. Have faith in god or people or yourself or science or in luck or in all of the above. Faith is what keeps us going, faith is what keeps us strong. 10. Pay your bills on time whenever you can, although money is nothing. Remind yourself that. 11. Do not forget you were once ignorant of all you know now. Be patient of anyone who hasnât had the education you have. Speak at the level of the person you are with - itâs not playing dumb, itâs being considerate. Thereâs no reason to make them feel uncomfortable. Plus then when someone starts going off about their superior IQ, you can cut them to pieces and watch their face when you do. 12. You are the best person in the room for one particular thing, and thatâs confidence. You are the worst person in the room for another thing, and thatâs humility. Use both carefully. 13. Never make fun of someoneâs beliefs or superstitions, let your kid keep their imaginary friend and let your best buddy believe in knocking on wood. We all have security blankets. Donât take away someone elseâs. 14. Try to learn something new every day. 15. The worse you look, the more likely you are to run into someone you know so instead of feeling awkward, learn to be confident in sweats while talking to your friends. 16. Never go to bed angry, it will ruin your sleep and make tomorrow even harder. Find a way to relax. Donât let today get to your head. 17. Think before you speak. When someone says something, mull over their words before answering. This is called listening, it is different than hearing. 18. What keeps love beautiful is that thereâs risk involved. If he breaks your heart and it doesnât hurt, it wasnât love in the first place. 19. Never let someone else determine who you are or how happy. You are too strong to be torn apart. 20. I love you, even when we are fighting, even when I am fast asleep. Donât doubt it for an instant. You are my everything.

sometimes âbrbâ stands for âbe ready bitchâ so you have to be careful
Women are conditioned since we are young that our final stage of fulfillment comes from finding love. We could be 25, successful and self-made, but at the end of the day people wonât see us as someone who made it so far in just 25 years, but how someone lived 25 years without finding a man. To every single woman out there who is working hard and grinding to achieve their goals- your success is valid. You as a woman are valid. And I pray there is only more and more success written for you in everything you pursue.
The sort of people that we become is, in large part, determined by the voices that we choose to listen to. Truly, we do not have a choice of listening versus not listening. We all obey certain voices, and thus the question is not âWill I listen?â but âWhich voices will I listen to?â But it is not only a matter of choosing to listen to good voices over bad ones. If only it were as simple as the proverbial whispering angel and devil on our shoulders. It is also a matter of whether we will choose to listen to different voices, voices that donât sound the same as our own. Will we listen to the voices of different cultures, ethnicities, backgrounds and beliefs? Will we listen to the voices that unsettle us and might make us feel anxious or guilty? If we choose to listen only to voices that echo our own, we will be limited in our growth and stunted in our spirituality. Choosing to tune in to only one or two stations may be comfortable, but it is not transformative. The voices we want to hear are not always the same as the voices we need to hear.

My early '7th' birthday present
Marty, my work mate found it was my birthday next Monday and took me out to lunch today - which made me feel special. Martyâs a cool dude. He cares for the community, has many creative ideas, a coffee run enthusiast and has had some pretty interesting life experiences at the age of 44. We typically hang in a group setting but since our mutual friends are on leave, this was the first time we hung out alone at lunch. I felt anxious, I didnât know if there would be too many awkward silences or if it would be a lunch filled with small talk. But to my surprise, we had a genuine conversation about our family, relationships and self development. It was interesting to listen to the type of person he was in his 20s and the trials and tribulations that eventually benefitted him. Towards the end, he told me to âstop freaking out about turning 25. You can only really start life when youâre 18 anyway, so if you think about youâre only 7 years old.â đ. I chuckled for a while. This birthday present is probably one of the most favourite things Iâve received. âșïž
