Yess!! Exactly! I love how those two lines say so much.

'It was one kingdom, once.' ...

'Yes.'

(I just reread that part of Kings Rising and I'm getting emotional *sobs* 😭)

It's a question and an answer. Throughout the story they have said 'I love you' in so many ways without actually saying those words. But this is so much more than even, 'I love you.'

When Laurent says 'It was one kingdom, once', he is saying:

We may have both won our battles, but we've still got a journey ahead of us. A journey to unite two kingdoms, two sworn enemies. It's our turn to bring them together and make our country a better place. Can we learn to forgive the past, move foward and heal? I want you in my life, by my side, always. Will you do this with me?

When Damen accepts, it's with all the seriousness of a marriage proposal.

Only two lines, but they have a whole deeper meaning.

I don't know how I will ever get over Damen & Laurent and their love for each other ❤️😭

Laurent’s vocabulary [in Akielon] hit its limits when it came to military terms and manoeuvres, but Damen filled in the gaps. It was of course no surprise to find that Laurent had a well-stocked armoury of elegant phrases and bitchy remarks, but could not talk in detail about anything sensible.

finally read captive prince for the first time. spent 97% of the book wondering why the hell i was even still reading...only to have now finished it and am immensely put out that book two doesn't arrive until tuesday

Oh, what’s this? Have I been in the midst of a Captive Prince-fueled firestorm of emotions the last two weeks? Yes. 100% yes. And so, I present: Damen, and Laurent, and their respective (and polar opposite) trust issues.

I read Captive Prince before I’d even heard of AFTG, I was absolutely obsessed with it but then when I did read AFTG a few months after, I brushed aside Captive Prince in favour of Andreil!

I read the trilogy at the start of 2019, before I’d gotten into fic writing and such…recently though, I decided to reread it and it’s totally rekindled my love for it.

That is why I need help….I want fic ideas/inspo! i’m so used to aftg and all the prompt possibilities it comes with that i’m at a loss for what to do for Captive Prince SO, if you have any ideas you want to share PLEASE et me know! No promises they will be done or that they’ll be done quickly XD But I will try my best.

Not looking for any totally different AU’s really and would like to stick to Laurent/Damen if possible but of course, all ideas are welcome!

Hi dear!

I'm not super great at articulating my thoughts 99% of the time, so I hope I can help you with this, but I'm posting it as well, so anyone else might jump in with their thoughts and ideas. So hopefully the hive mind will be of more help to you than me chronically overthinking everything.

Is this meant more about their relationship with each other? Tidbits about them/their growth/their relationship?

God I hope I didn't entirely misunderstood, but here are a few suggestions from me:

Their individual growth throughout the series, as well as the hurdles they have to go through to end up choosing each other.

Parallels that exist within the stories (they both end up orphans, Damen killed Auguste, Laurent ends up killing Kastor, etc.)

Tipping points. though when who fell for whom is usually a bit up for interpretation.

Less serious suggestions from my side:
