Hell yeah it's that time of year again!! As always, Q&A is under the cut! Send an ask if you have any questions!

Fourth annual, fifth total, we are once again approaching summer and that means Lautski Nation rises again! As always I'm so so hyped to see what everyone makes and create something new myself! Still modded by @the-spaced-out-ace

And as per usual, a rundown of how the event works in case this is someone's first time!

Q: What are alternates?

A: Alternates are two extra prompts in case one of them leaves you stumped! They can be used any day, or they can not be used at all! It’s up to each individual participant!

Q: Do I have to do all seven days?

A: You’re free to do as many as you want! You can do all seven, you can do just a few, hell, you could do all nine in you wanted! This isn’t a challenge, it’s an event. The main goal is to make some posts about this ship we love and having fun.

Q: What can I make?

A: Anything you want! Art, fics, edits, memes, etc. There's even been a cosplay or two in the past! The one thing I will not reblog is anything generated by AI. I trust that anyone in an event like this gets why generative AI is evil, but I am saying it just in case.

Q: How do I post?

A: I’ll reblog anything made for the event to this blog and my main. If you’d like to be featured, please @ THIS blog. Additionally, I’d recommend tagging works with #lautski week so everyone’s works can all be found in the same place. I've also not always been pinged by tumblr in the past, so the tag really is an important extra precaution.

Q: I was late! Can I still post?

A: Of course! I’ll keep reblogging new posts tagged #lautski week and/or mention this blog through June 30, 2026!

Q: Can I post to AO3, then link it back here?

A: Feel free! That's how a lot of longer fics for the event got published in the past!

Q: Can I post to (insert any other fanfic site here) then link it back here?

A: Same as AO3. Go ahead!

Q: One of my wips fits *insert prompt here!* Can I post it for that day?

A: You can, but please don’t post before the event begins!

Q: Am I allowed to write smut?

A: Yes, but please have it properly tagged on both tumblr and AO3. On this blog, I will use the additional tag "smut warning"

@lautski-week day 2 - baking

(Takes place between chapters 9 and 10 of Sand and Unfortunate Souls. Because I miss them. Sue me.) [x]

"Peter. I picked up some brownie mix. Want to make them tonight?"

Pete finally looked up from the remote to the screen in Steph's guest room, still not entirely sure what each button did, but seeing the moving images was memorizing on the days he could fake his way through.

Today was not one of those days.

It didn't matter as far as he cared. Steph was inviting him to do something. That was way more interesting.

Even if he didn't know what it meant, either.

"What's a brownie mix?"

"You know, like, Betty Crocker?"

"Who?"

It seemed to click for her then. "Have you never had a brownie?"

Pete shook his head, and Steph grinned.

"Today's your lucky day, then. Come on. Let's make these now."

How could he say no to that? This was a new Above thing. Of course he had to follow.

In the kitchen, he saw a box with a picture of some kind of brown food on the front (a fitting name, then, brownies) and Steph got out the carton of eggs he recognized from various breakfasts and a tall green bottle.

"The nice thing about boxed mix is all you need is two eggs and some oil," Steph told him. "And a mixer, of course, but that's doable. Thank god mom taught me some life skills."

She rarely brought up her mother. Every mention seemed to be a positive, but rare nonetheless.

"Did she make a lot of these?" Pete asked.

"Sometimes. As a treat, you know?"

He didn't.

He still didn't know what they were making.

"…so. Eggs and oil?"

"Pretty much, yeah. And the mix, of course."

Steph had him pour the mix in a bowl and crack open the eggs while she measured the oil (which he was grateful for, as he knew he wouldn't have gotten the amount right) and when everything was okay, she turned the mixer on.

He could have stared at just that for hours, no doubt. How did humans build things so complicated? How did they get these ideas in the first place? He'd been in the Above for weeks and he never stopped being in awe.

But eventually Steph got the batter in a different dish, and into the oven it went.

It didn't take long before the whole kitchen smelt divine.

Honestly, it even smelt like…

…holy shit they made something chocolate. This was the best treat he could have imagined.

Waiting for them to cool off was hell. Even if she didn't remember mer-him, Pete hoped Steph understood how exciting and important this was to him. Getting to make something together, and something so delightful to his own pallet? How was he going to be able to repay her for nearly a year of kindnesses?

(He did count the days on the dock before the deal. Mer-him was still him, and she'd been just as nice back then too.)

Getting served and finally taking a bite, he near enough inhaled the whole slice in seconds. Chocolate. He'd be damned, huh? Every use of it was up his alley. Forget all the Shinies he hoarded at the nest, chocolate was officially his favorite human invention.

And clearly, his delight must have been apparent. Steph smiled musingly. "Your hot chocolates and Milky Ways and now this. You and your sweet tooth."

"It's not my fault everything with chocolate tastes good. How do I make up for this?"

"You don't. You're a guest, remember? You're welcome to everything…though if you'd wanna join me for a movie while we have a few more?"

He wanted to be part of her world, right?

He would have said yes regardless.

He nodded. "Thank you, still."

"It's really no problem," Steph said. "Though I have to be honest. It's an honor to be the one to give you your first brownie."

Lautski Week day 2- Baking

HC that Pete loves to bake for Steph. Whenever Steph says she wants a sweet treat, Pete jumps up and gets ready to bake whatever she wants. Also Steph sits on the counter and watches him bake while she talks.

(There are also mysterious flour handprints on Pete's ass)

Today we see Steph get grilled about her new boyfriend as well as what Pete's friends have to say about the whole thing. Because somehow two teens dating is a big deal to some people. (it's me. i'm people. i love them. this is my birthday gift from myself to myself.)

Day 1: Surprise

"C'mon, Steph, what is it?" Pete smiled, nervous as his girlfriend guided him with his eyes carefully covered. "It's… getting kinda dark out. I can still tell,"

"Pfft," Steph chuckled. "Don't worry. That's actually the point. We're almost there," She assured him, watching their steps.

Pete hummed. Steph slowed them to a stop, "Okay. Here." She muttered, a clear excited lilt to her words as she slowly removed her hands his eyes. "Surprise!"

Pete smiled slightly at the anticipation in her voice, squinting ahead.

"Hey. Dork," Steph appeared in front of him, holding his glasses out with a grin. He snorted as she pushed them gently onto his face; once he adjusted them, and his vision cleared, his eyes brightened.

"Woah." He breathed. "Really?" Before them, in the middle of the grass, laid a few blankets and pillows. The sun was setting beautifully, with stars just starting to shine through.

Steph's grinned widened. "Yeah. You like it?" She asked, messing with her flannel sleeves idly. Pete met her eyes, matching her expression.

"Are you kidding? I'm about to stargaze with my… fuckin' awesome girlfriend," His voice wavered lightly. "It's kinda impossible for me not to,"

Steph laughed fondly, watching him look up to the sky, "I figured. Hey," She reached into her pocket, pulling out a couple bags of chocolates and snacks. "Check it out."

"Man. You're the best, y'know that?"

She shrugged, soft, "Helps to hear you say it."

Lautski Week: Day 1-Surprise

Steph couldn’t believe she was here. Why is she waiting at Pasquale’s on Thursday night for freaking Micro-Peter. She knew she had to get her grade up for her phone, but it’s already been 20 minutes. 

Where the hell was this freaking nerd. There’s no way he actually stood me up, she thought. I mean c’mon he wears a dumb bow-tie and suspenders for school, and he has those stupid thick glasses. And he gets that stupid crooked smile anytime he cracks a joke and he's really funny and kinda-STOP. I don’t like him like that. Screw this.

She got up and paid for her check and went outside walking to her car she saw something in the alley next to her. She saw a bunch of teenagers wearing Hatchetfield High Varsity jackets, all of them crowding around something. She walked closer getting a better look seeing unmistakable glasses near Max’s foot. Oh no.

“Hey Max!” She yelled out. The group of boys all looked up, except for poor Peter Spankofski in fetal position. Jason and Kyle were frozen still but Max, the so called “God” of Hatchetfield High had the nerve to say

“Don’t worry Steph, it’s just some nerd nobody important or special. I’ll cream him and everything will be back to normal.”

“What the hell is wrong with you? I asked him to come meet me here so we could study! What the hell do you mean by normal?!” Steph yelled at him, every second she was only growing more furious.

“He’s a nerd Steph, he’s a lower person than us popular folk. So if you wanna ruin your whole reput-” Max didn’t have time to finish his sentence. Steph charged at him full force fist ready and knocked him down with one punch. It was a pretty good hit too, she hit him square on the nose. Jason and Kyle just stood there frozen unsure of what to do.

“AH-SHIT! WHAT THE FUCK! YOU BROKE MY NOSE!” It was at that moment Steph noticed Pete had been looking up and staring at her in such awe. It was also then Pete realized his thoughts of maybe liking Steph are now definite, and that Stephanie Lauter is the Hottest and Coolest person ever. Steph then remembered what she was doing after looking at her damsel in distress. She pushed her boot onto Max’s chest.

“Alright Jaegerman, here’s what's going to happen. You’re going to leave this place. You will stop bullying Pete and all nerds. Got it.”

“FUCKING FINE” and just like that Max got up and was running out with Kyle and Jason following him,  turning around quickly to give steph thumbs up and keep on running. After a few seconds Steph turned around and got a good look at Pete. His hair was messed up, a busted lip he had a bad black eye forming, and by the way he was hugging his stomach more bruises will be showing up there. She walked up and grabbed his glasses off the ground but when she picked them up she noticed one lens was gone and the other was severely cracked.

“Well these aren’t going to do any good, sorry Pete.”

“It’s okay, Ive got extra pair at ho…” He then started to drift off with Steph running to him and got on her knees. She held his head up and could feel his face warming up as his eyes shot open

“Hey Pete, no going to sleep right now, I need you to stay awake.” Pete nodded very quickly. “Alright do you have a way home or did you walk here.” 

Pete explained, “Um neither, my brother dropped me off.” Pete then tried to stand up and was trembling so much, Steph supported him on the two feet.

“Well my house isn’t that far Spankofski so come on.” Steph then pulled his arm around her and walked her to the car. Pete was in such awe, it was like his own knight in shining armour had come to save him. Steph drove him to her place. The drive was mostly quiet with the radio playing needy beasts songs. But with Steph filled with guilt and Pete too nervous and flustered no one had the guts to talk during the car ride. When they got to Steph’s place Pete was shocked at how big the Lauter mansion was. 

It was then Steph talked again, “Lay down on the couch I’ll go get some ice and the first aid kit.” Pete lied on the grey couch and pulled out his phone to see how bad the damage was. When Steph came back she put a towel up to his lips to get some blood off of him and put ice on his eye.

“Now look Pete I know he got more than your face so where else do you need care.”

“Steph I’m fine I sw-ACK” Steph then poked his rib to see if she was right.

“That’s what I thought.” Steph then realized what this meant and why Pete didn’t want to share. She had to take off his shirt if she wanted to help. Okay okay, it’ll be fine I mean it’s Peter Spankofski. She thought as she pulled off his sweater and began to unbutton his shirt. How bad can he HOLY CRAP. Steph then realized Peter Spankofski sorta had a sleeper build too bad it was covered with bruises. “Uhhh anyone tell you you’re kinda jacked Spankoffski. Maybe you should lose the suspenders”

Pete was tomato red, “But t-t-thats my signature l-look.”

“If you ask me this should be your signature look.”

And Pete looked at her with that smile. That damn smile. The night was filled with more of Steph taking care of Pete and Pete trying to get studying going but Steph making him rest instead. Steph drove him home right before her dad came back from work. And once pete locked the door he had a giant smile. Too bad Ted was sitting on the couch.

“WOOWEE about the time you got home, lover boy.”

When Pete wakes up on February 1, it seems a normal enough day to him. He's never been much of a birthday person. Skipping a grade meant his birthday always drew far too much attention to him in elementary and middle school, and now that he was actually in college, it seemed to matter only less. They were all supposed to be young adults or whatever, right?

His roommate groans as Pete scrambles to turn his alarm off as fast as possible. Even though on applications, when marking he preferred to wake up early, 6:15 may have been a bit much for the boy on the other side of the room, whose name Pete could honestly barely remember half of the time. They tended to stay out of each other's way for the most part. That might have worked out in the long run.

With the alarm off, Pete saw a text that came through at 6:15 on the

good morning babe <3

happy 18th!!!

And really, how could he help but grin?

Thank you!

I'm surprised you're already awake?

No response comes for several hours.

That was going to be on his mind all day, and he had to trust the process. But he certainly trusted Steph, so…

So off to her apartment he went around 4:00.

She really did have everything thought of. Cupcakes. A gift bag. Revenge of the Sith already loaded up on her little TV.

"It's a big one," she said before he could even say anything. "Let me treat you—"

"I can't even argue. You're spoiling me so good."

She softly laughed before kissing him. "I'd been prepping all weekend," she said. "Happy birthday, babe."
