i thought the “this is the face that launched a thousand ships, although now it would maybe be five-hundred.” line was just an internet joke but apparently that's a line Menelaus actually says in Nolan's Odyssey??

Not only that the language itself sounds straight out of a marvel forcibly funny haha moment, but Menelaus? The Menelaus who all thoughout human history, from Homer, to Sappho, to Euripides, to Virgil, to Shakespeare, to Brooke, to Barth; from Classical vases to Medieval poetry to Reinessance art, has been known as the man whose sword fell from his hands at the sight of his wife after 10 years apart?

"What joy for me to hold my wife" Menelaus?

"I believe all. I understand nothing. I love you" Menelaus?

It's not rlly a final design just rough idea rlly, so ill probably change stuff. I want him to look more visibly vampire-y outside of the red eyes and fangs, so I'll probably add more in the way of that. also bat ears are so fun to draw HOW have I not drawn a character with them until now.

the sweater vest is actually backless like this for his wings

he can wrap his wings around himself like this and it looks kind of like a cape. I'd imagine he does this a lot of the time if nothing else because I wanna push the vampire side more. also it just looks comfortable tbh.

hed prolly be mainly nocturnal, but hes very sensitive to the sun when he does go out in it

he does get the urge to bite people/animals, but this is more annoying than anything cuz its not like he can actually turn anyone hes a bat

some hermits who live near him have noticed their livestock going missing,,,

he feels uncomfortable in areas with a lot of wide open space. like reverse claustrophobia

sleeps upside down and has been caught sleeping under gems bridge
