Every time I see someone say “Vanya had every right to hurt her siblings because they hurt her,” I die a little inside. The whole point of her character is that no, she did not have that right, because she didn’t know half the shit they were going through and by writing that book and lashing out at Allison, she multiplied the pain Reginald’s abuse had caused. The whole point of her arc is that by lashing out at her siblings for what they’d done to her in the past, she drove them even further away and made it all the more likely she’d be excluded in the future, prolonging her own estrangement. 

Vanya did not have a right to hurt her siblings any more than they had a right to hurt her.
