âOh sheâs alive. Iâve seen her time to time when sheâs on the beach.â The fusion said, quite bluntly. Perhaps Lavender would trust her more if she told her that.
"Oh that is wonderful!" Lavender smiled, clapping her hands together. "I was told everyone was dead, but I said that before. How did you survive?"

âNot at all!â Now the old Aegirine would have minded, but she had softened over the years. A guest didnât bother her that much. âIâm sure Ferro will be fine with taking you in as well. Iâm Aegirine by the way.â
âSo many gems,â Lavenderâs mind spun. She had come to the Earth expecting no one but gems had survived! âWho is Ferro? Your leader?â
âMy partner.â Aegirine pointed at the Gem in front of her. âWeâve been together as far back as I can remember. Sheâs a bit stiff, but quite friendly.â
"Hello," Lavender said to the taller gem in front of them. "I haven't been around long so I don't know that many gems. As a pearl I wasn't allowed to mingle too much."

Aegirine opened then closed her mouth. âThere are, but we live in a cabin in the woods. Itâs where weâve been since the war ended.â Turning around, she walked back to her partner. âItâs fine by us, weâre used to being alone. But we always like company.â
âI wasnât alive during the war,â Lavender Pearl remarked, and followed after Aegirine. âYou donât mind me coming along?â She wasnât use to being treated so gently. Her mistress hadnât been kind.

âCharoite.â Lavender Pearl hadnât ran into any gems like Charoite while under her masterâs control. She wasnât that old though. âIâm Lavender Pearl. Sorry I ran.
âItâs alright, I can assume thatâs what most rebel gems would do when meeting a stranger. I was pretty scared of them myself.â She still is, but usually to high ranking gems or quartz.

âHomeworld just wants to think none of us survived. But us Crystal Gems are quite stubborn.â Grinning, Aegirine pointed her thumb behind her. âMy partner and I are going back home, we can talk on the way there.â
âI am glad some gems are still around.â Lavender wasnât sure what she would have done on a world without gems but she would have figured out something. It would have been lonely. She looked back at the much taller gem and her eyes went wide. âHome? There are still gem bases here?â

âI escaped on a ship and crashed it on this world.â Lavender hoped the ship was in too bad of shape to be used or tracked. âI donât want to be found either. Who are you?â
âI crash on this planet as well, a long while ago.â When she said a long while ago, she actually meant two years ago. The fusion lowers her arms down. âIâm Charoite.â
"Charoite." Lavender Pearl hadn't ran into any gems like Charoite while under her master's control. She wasn't that old though. "I'm Lavender Pearl. Sorry I ran."
Summer on my mind
Running
It was cold. That was something the pearl hadn't been expecting when she first came to Earth. She hadn't experienced real seasons before so perhaps it was not that surprising. Lavender Pearl had headed away from the human cities and settlements, heading instead towards the more wild parts of Earth. She wasn't really looking for the wild but the last few gem buildings that were left. It didn't take her too long. Lavender Pearl came upon a large temple, built by what seemed to be a mountain spewing fire. Like a fire opal. She headed closer, wondering if the place was empty. "I shouldn't be doing this..." Lavender muttered, and moved in. @bluediamondsperidot

Lavender Pearl didnât respond right away, instead just looked at the other gem for a few minutes. If she was acting like a scared animal it was because she felt that way.
âI-I want to be here. That is why.â Lavender looked at the gem closer. âYou are a rebel? Or a Homeworld gem?â
âIf by Rebels you mean the Crystal Gems? Well, I guess so. I like living on Earth and really donât want to be caught by Homeworld Gems.â Charoite explains, taking a step closer.

Lavenderâs relief at hearing they were rebels was washed away when the gem asked about her owner. Her face paled and she shook her head. âI am not going back! Never going back! You canât make me!â
âCalm down!â Aegirine put her hands on her shoulders. âYou donât have to go anywhere you donât want to. You can come with me, you can run off, I donât care. But while youâre with me, I will do my best to keep you safe, okay?â

Lavender Pearl jumped up, surprise writen all over her face. âAre you with the rebels?â She was unsure if she could trust the other gem, just fresh from Homeworld.
âYeah, but does it really matter anymore?â It was a fair question, but it felt odd now. âWhatâs more important now is getting you back to wherever youâre supposed to be. Did you get separated from your owner?â

âWho-who is there?â Lavender Pearl huddled near the rocks, fearing a Homeworld gem had followed her.
Charoite had found the gem who was running from her. She thought it was probably a mistake to follow her as it would make it seem like she was going to hurt the Pearl. She brings her hands up, as if trying to calm down a scared animal.
âH-hello.. What are you doing here?â
