Hi! Do you have theories or headcanons on what actually are those prothean spheres from ME1 and 2 and what they were used for?

You know, I don't! I haven't given a ton of thought to the protheans, to be honest. On one hand, I love having those little mysteries that will never be solved, but on the other, it's a cool worldbuilding and lore opportunity.

Do you have any thoughts on it?

I’m trying come up with something they could be but it’s hard, makes me wonder if even BioWare knows. But seriously my best guess, given what little we know about the protheans, is that the spheres were either some sort of drone or data server.

A drone because it seems to be able to alter it’s mass and that makes me think that it could be some device used to record information, able to adapt to it’s environment in a moment to better spy on others (or wathever the protheans used drones like that for).

But honestly it makes more sense to me that it was some sort of data server, given that even though it floats it doesn’t seem to move beyond its platform. So maybe it works to store information that can be transmitted by the beacons, or even information that is sensitive and must be isolated in the device. Given the protheans weird memory sharing abilities, I guess this could be it.

As for their pyramids I haven’t been able to come up with anything yet, but maybe they were special or tactical storage places. I have seen some theories that their designs made them think the pyramids are actually Inussanon in origin, I suposse that’s also a possibility.

That's so cool! I played Warframe a while back but only had Volt (my main), Rhino and Oberin. I tried to unlock others but never got all the parts required.

Mag looks fun, from what I remember she dosen't have much health or shields, but I imagine the Prime version stats and some mods can make up for that.

Unfortunately I never got any of those chakram weapons, I really wanted to have those and even grinded some parts for one them, but the RNG wasn't on my side.

Thanks for sharing the gameplay too, I forgot how awesome this game is!

I have this headcanon based on some pieces of lore that the Protheans saw potential in humans and wanted to give us biotic abilities just like they did (at least in part) to the asari, but that's because they planned to uplift humanity so we could be used as soldiers against the machines in the Metacon War. But when the Reapers arrived they abandoned this project to focus on the new war before giving humans the same gift they gave the asari, and instead focused on the latter. That's because unlike Earth, Thessia has abundant eezo sources around the planet wich could be used to quickly advance their technology, making them a safer bet to lead the next cycle against the Reapers. But if the Reapers hadn't arrived our species would be made natural biotics like the asari, and given a brief mention of the Leviathans forcing the scientists on Mahavid to study "the evolutionary implications of human biotics", maybe with time humanity will naturally surpass the asari in that aspect.

Petition Restoring Same-Sex Romances in the Mass Effect Legendary Edition

A petition for BioWare and EA to restore same-sex romances in the Mass Effect Legendary Edition.

If you’re a fan of the Mass Effect series, please consider signing this petition and sharing this post on your pages!

We the authors - myself, @estalfaed-archived, and others - believe that BioWare, EA, and Mac Walters have squandered an opportunity with the Legendary Edition to fix the lack of same-sex romance options in ME1 and ME2. Fans have been calling for the studio to restore the existing material for Kaidan Alenko’s same-sex romance in the first two games for years. Then news broke in January that Jack and Jacob’s same-sex options were cut during development.

Responses and reasons from the studio for these exclusions have been lacking and contradictory at best.

In short, we are asking for:

A full, detailed explanation of the reasons why these characters’ same-sex dialogues and romances were originally planned on some level and had dialogue written and/or recorded, but were ultimately excluded from the games;

A formal apology from the studios for the deliberately exclusionary decisions made regarding all three characters, both in the original version and Legendary Edition;

A Legendary Edition post-release patch for an MShep-Kaidan romance using and filling in existing material so we can have one trilogy-spanning male same-sex romance;***

A frank and open assessment of the possibility of finishing the same-sex romances for Jack and Jacob and the potential for Legendary Edition patches;***

A detailed, public plan of concrete steps the studios and creative directors will take to ensure diverse, accurate, and comparable LGBTQIA+ representation in future ME projects.

***Yes, we’re specifically asking for post-release patches because this studio has a well-documented history of grinding down its employees and developers to meet their deadlines. We want to be both realistic with what can conceivably be accomplished and respectful of the pressure these developers are facing with a looming deadline during the pandemic.

I feel like this is an important topic that should be addressed. Yes, we can be excited for a remaster and still be upset about aspects of it at the same time. Who knows if this will ever actually reach the eyes of those it’s intended for, but hey, if we don’t try we’ll never see the changes we are hoping for.

This is essentially the WIP I’m going to work on whenever I cannot get myself to work on anything else because this is simply so self indulgent and fun, but I’m aiming for shorter chapters which hopefully means more frequent updates!!

Benji steps past Mia and shakes Pilar’s hand, then Victor’s. It might be in his head, but Victor swears that Benji lingers against his touch for a moment. “Benji Campbell,” he says. “Welcome to Hogwarts.”

“Um, thanks,” Victor says, and there’s something in his voice that only Pilar recognizes; she gives him a little scandalized smile. In return, he kicks her in the shin. “Everyone’s been super welcoming already.”

“That’s good to hear,” Benji says, smiling down at him and then seemingly remembering himself. He clears his throat and makes for the compartment exit, stopping beside Mia. “We, uh, we should go finish our rounds, I guess.”

“Your rounds,” Mia says. “I’m just tagging along to make sure you don’t make a fool of yourself.”

Benji snorts. “I don’t think that’s possible.”

“You making a fool of yourself or me preventing it?”
