I recently did a complete re-watch of The Thundermans including the movie and Thundermans Undercover and had a pretty good time. The movie was fun and Undercover definitely had its moments even if it did feel like Max and Phoebe's relationship backslid a little.
I last watched the show about 5 years ago and my posts from back then started to get a resurgence lately in my notifications so I knew I needed to revisit this show I loved so much upon my first viewing. And I guess I finished just in time since the next movie is coming out shortly. But knowing what the next movie is about, I really want to skip it. Thundermans Civil War style is not something I'm excited for. The superhero team fighting against each other is probably my least favorite trope in the superhero genre. Didn't like it when the MCU did it, never saw Batman v Superman and I highly doubt I'll like this storyline being used here, Nickelodeon is already pretty shaky sometimes with its writing which was especially evident during Undercover so I have really no faith they can pull off this storyline that employs a trope I already hate. And what I dislike even more, to a certain extent, we've already seen this kind of story with Max and Phoebe. I don't know, it just seems like they're kind of scraping the bottom of the barrel here and only writing whats comfortable to them instead of breaking new territory. It's a means to create cheap, manufactured drama that Im not interested in seeing. BUT if the movie does it well and they actually use the story to talk about the very prevalent problems of the competitive nature of the twins and Barb and Hanks terrible parenting skills that led to that competitive nature, I'll gladly eat my words. I'll probably watch the movie, but there is probably going to be a lot of fast-forwarding to get through this slog of manufactured drama of a Civil War esque storyline.
Anyways, if anyone's out there, thanks for listening to my rant.
