The redhead hadn’t heard the two follow behind him with all of his nervous babbling, so there was a little twitch of fright when Isaiah came over to help. It was a noticeable jump but not a big deal for him; everything was noticeable with Lawrence.
He shuffled uncomfortably and tried to force a smile of appreciation for his taller friend's assistance. He never looked directly at him; he could feel himself blushing over his darling friends and the man felt shame for it. "Nn- No. No he didn't h- hurt me." He bit his lip and tried not to cry over how emotional he was feeling about the idea that anyone would actually want him intimately. That TWO people would. Lawrence bit his lip and tried to focus on the inquiry. "He w- was nicely dressed and friendly but—I- I don't know. He liked being close and he was asking about you and Dee and I didn't like it."
Lawrence put the tea on the stove to boil, slipped away from Isaiah, and pulled out a chair. He was looking at Dee now, confused and red and desperate to know what to say. It was killing him to stare without words to offer; he didn't want to offend the musician or frighten him away! And still, instead of figuring it out, he tore his bright eyes away, slid under his kitchen table, and hugged his knees; he was hiding like an embarrassed child. "Thank you so much—both of you—for coming; I was getting very lonely. Please make yourselves at home!" He wanted to make them feel welcome despite his nervous tone.
1. Don’t apologize for being late/slow with replies.
2. Take all of the time you need. Days, weeks, months, doesn’t matter. Don’t put yourself under stress because of such pointless things.
3. Your personal life out of character along with your health are the most important. If you drop a thread/conversation/whatever, it’s alright. Just stay safe and take care.
He pulled away from Isaiah, clasped his hands together in adoration, and pivoted his head from side to side to admire each man as equally as possible. "A minute-long chat, oh me oh my you must be in quite the rush!" He joked and looked between the two, bright eyes shining in the still-somehow-lit hallway. They had something to discuss with him; goodness, he hoped it wasn't bad news! That little tug of concern brought hesitation to his smile.
Dee was the one to begin explaining so his head stilled and bright ocular sapphires focused in on him. The youngest man seemed to be very uncomfortable and that caused Lawrence to mirror his expression; Dee's demeanor was beginning to make him anxious.
Lawrence gave them a quick half-nod; yes he understood that his two best friends were in love (and it was such a sweet thought), but it was all the musician gave the redhead time to do before he continued. He received a slew of compliments next, which lifted his heart and gave him all sorts of joyous butterflies (especially the family bit)—and, as usual, everything showed on his face. Had they come for this?! Was it Appreciate Lawrence Day?
But the last thing that Dee said didn't make a lot of sense to him. At first. It was Lawrence's first time encountering a situation like this and his brain had some working out to do. His eyes flicked between both of their faces, and then down to their tense hands. They couldn't have meant-? Could they?
The blush was delayed but when it appeared it happened fast. His face was just red. "Uh- Oh." The breeder stuttered stupidly, brought his hands to his own heated cheeks, and stared up at Isaiah for confirmation. "Mm- Maybe you should come inside. I'll make us some t- tea." Lawrence turned quickly and nearly ran his face into the door. He hardly noticed his flawed movements but managed to unlock it without bringing further danger to himself. While stumbling directly towards the kitchen and starting the kettle, he kept rambling, "This is quite the topic would you like some biscuits I'm not upset did you know I saw a very alarming man on the way here you know it's pretty unusual when more than two people-" He gasped, shut his mouth mid tea-preparation, and became rigid.
He did have romantic feelings for them but was that what they were? He'd thought that maybe he was just confused like he always seemed to be.
He had come in, huffing and bleeding through a small cut on his cheek, by squeezing through debris in the metro and—as usual—taking the stairs inside Artemis Suits. Ever since 'the elevator incident' with Dee, Lawrence tended to avoid the contraptions like death itself; he was afraid of being cornered again. After checking the address scribbled down for him for the thirty-second time, Lawrence ascended the stairs.
On Isaiah's level he hopped childishly from the landing and quickly located the door with Isaiah's number (checking the paper for the thirty-third time). He was sweating, by then, from stress and exertion. The breeder had run into trouble a few times, which resulted in the loss of a hat, a cut on his cheek, a ripped tie, and some overall bruising.
Lawrence hesitated in fear; what if he'd come to the wrong place again? What if another stranger answered? Before the worried man could make a decision his 'darling' black and white cat trotted straight up—from nowhere—and YOWLED at the apartment door. "No no NO! Pepper! You pesky cat, how could you?! Traitor!"
Isaiah Hall. "I'm so, so afraid that he will lose himself—in the arguments, the fights, and the plasmids. I love him—Dee does too—and I don't want him to vanish from whatever pitiful amount of life that I have left. I fear the day that I won't be able to hug him because he's become dead; or worse, the day he comes home and he's not Isaiah anymore. I'm begging you not to leave us, Isaiah... Tread carefully for us."
There wasn't an immediate response from the other side of the door like there usually was. Instead only silence answered—aside from the soft thumping of cats jumping from furniture in hopes of seeing who their visitors were. A moment passed where the men were left in silence to wonder if Lawrence had gone out.
Then, from the end of the hall, the cat-loving redhead appeared at the top of the stairs. The figure stopped to nervously squint and examine the potential threat. It didn't take long for him to discern exactly who his visitors were though, and before greeting them properly he sprinted directly at them. He yelled as he ran; something along the lines of 'welcome home, are you hungry, I missed you' came out but it was jumbled and lost within an overly excited mishmash of other vocalizations.
He reached them at the end of the long corridor in seconds and threw himself at Dee's arms for a great big squeeze. After that he did the same to Isaiah, whether he wanted one or not! "You both look good!" Good for people stuck in Rapture at least! Lawrence's expression was sheer joy. "You always look good—and even better together! You seem happier now. Are you doing better?" Last time they all met the other two had been having a dispute and now that they seemed better Lawrence wanted to celebrate!
In the back of his mind, where all of his unspoken and often-ignored thoughts floated, he knew that Dee and Isaiah were close, that they were lovers, so it was damaging for him to see them having difficulties with one another.
