havent touched a single one piece episode in my life is sir crocodile actually trans

so its not explicitly canon at the moment but heres a brief overview of why its such a popular theory (ill try to make this as non viewer friendly as possible)

probably the most important piece of evidence for the theory is the canon ties crocodile has to ivankov, who literally has the power to trans your gender. he has some kind of secret info about croc in his younger years that he uses to blackmail him into helping them with a jailbreak during the impel down arc. its worth noting too that ivankov is constantly transing people and has a huge group of trans people who worship him as a king so its very relevant to his character (he himself is very genderfluid) and its not that far of a stretch that he could have used this power on crocodile in the past

second theres the fact that in flashbacks to the execution of gold roger (what sets off the pirate age and inspires many great pirates to go to sea) crocodiles face is never shown, even though the faces of every other notable pirate/character are very visible in these scenes. a lot of people have pointed out that from that angle crocodile does resemble the genderswap version of him that the creator drew when doing genderswaps of the seven warlords of the sea (a group of government sanctioned pirates he is in at the beginning of the series) some people think that the genderswap version of croc resembles a character named tritoma who is an empress of an all-women civilization who died suddenly of love sickness, im not totally convinced of this since shes older than crocodile and also oda does have very bad same face syndrome for women but hey who knows. also that group is specifically all tied to snakes so there is the connection to crocodile in terms of reptiles

another factor is the drawing of the various warlords as kids that the creator drew where crocodile is noticeably more androgynous than the other boys, which has led people to think that its another clue to him being trans (hes the one in the middle with his arms crossed)

theres also a very big part of the theory that suggests that crocodile is luffys father since his "mother" is still unknown. ive seen a lot of people point to how much luffy looks like crocodile in this joke mafia ova which yeah he definitely does

its also important that in the marineford arc when he finds out that dragon is luffys father, he shifts his focus from trying to kill whitebeard to helping luffy and co with saving luffys brother ace and then helping luffy escape when before he had zero interest in luffys safety (him and luffy literally fight at one point bc luffy is getting in the way of him killing whitebeard) which has made people think that this is when he realizes that luffy is also HIS son and whoops he almost killed him like 3 times

theres definitely more that im forgetting rn but its definitely a non 0 chance that the theory could be true especially with one pieces history of important trans characters (some better done than others) including bon clay who worked for crocodile. even if its never confirmed or they reveal luffy to have a mom that man is transgender to me.............
