INDEFINITE HIATUS. I don’t really know for how long ( but knowing me it’ll probably be just a week at the most ) but I’m just gonna go ahead and throw it out there anyway. I’ve been thinking about it for a while anyway and just haven’t been feeling it on most of my blogs. Or tumblr in general. I’ll probably still occasionally lurk but for the most part I’d be unavailable for REPLIES/OOC. Just gonna take a few weeks off to re-energize and figure out which muses I want to keep. But for the moment, you’ll probably be able to reach me more over here and here. Or on d1scord: batdad #4606 when my mood’s pretty good. Stay awesome.

          Caught up in his own mind, Alec is completely unaware of the presence of the Sheriff until his door is opened. The sudden movement causes him to jump slightly, hands flying up to wipe the tears from his cheeks. Alec pushes himself upright, clearing his throat and looking anywhere but the Sheriff until he’s certain he can speak without his voice breaking. The desire to stay in bed and stare up at his ceiling is overwhelming, but that could trigger a concern that Alec doesn’t want to deal with. “Yeah.” Despite verbal agreement, Alec doesn’t move from his bed right away. Muscles feel weak, almost useless, as Alec slowly shifts to the side and stands up. 

          “I, uh.” Words escape him. It’s not unusual, though. Alec has never been much of a talker. That’s why Stiles is so useful. He fills the silence that feels so heavy. Alec crosses the room, pulling open his desk drawer and pulling out a small square box. “Here,” Alec mumbles, walking over to the door and holding the box out. He still carefully avoids making contact, keeping his eyes lowered and a comfortable amount of space between them.

       There’s a blur of movements he doesn’t catch. ( Or maybe chooses not to see. ) There were far too much of that from Alec that he doesn’t think he would ever understand. No matter how much he tried. He takes the affirmation for what it was, a quick dismissal he doesn’t take to heart anymore. These interactions much preferred than the arguments that seem to arise without reason. Hand grips tight on the door knob again, body ready to turn until Alec spoke up again. 

       Blue hues fall to him pulling something out of his drawer, a box  –– a present, he realized as Alec got closer. Eyebrows arched, the surprise inevitable. He doesn’t think he remembers getting a gift from him since  –– since Claudia. There was an impulse to reach for the wallet that wasn’t in his pocket yet, still on the nightstand next to his keys, where Alec’s letters and a few others from him and Stiles growing up were kept and folded. “ What’s this for? “ He asks thoughtlessly, taking the gift with a small curious shake before he finally opened it up to reveal a mug.

Things weren’t. With a frown, he sits himself down next to his other son, arm wrapping around his shoulders to pull him in. “ It’s okay. I miss her everyday. “

                     He’s looking at his father with his lips parted and eyes widened. – He can’t leave him. He shouldn’t. He shouldn’t go.. Who’s going to help him with Stiles gone? “Dad….” He purses his lips, trying not to get emotional and throw over his entire future just to stay with him. “I know. — And.. I love you, you know THAT?”

      There’s a fair smile over his ragged features, strained by age and stress, but now mostly excluding pride as he stares down at his boy. They’ve survived far too much already to not handle just a bit of distance. “ I know. “ He murmurs as he pulls the younger boy into a quick embrace, patting him gently on the back. “ Love you too, son. “

              “Of course I will, dad. I learned from the best and the worst. Aiming to be the opposite of Scott’s Dad and being everything you are with a few LESS cold cases. That’s all I need in my life.” He watches his father with arched brows and a rather small smile still lingering on his lips. – He doesn’t want to go. He doesn’t want to pack up. He doesn’t want to LEAVE. What would his Dad do without him? What if he’d start drinking again? Who’d be here to fill his life with puns, jokes, and healthy food if not STILES? Surely not Liam.

     A noiseless chuckle and a firm grip finds the younger Stilinski’s shoulder, steering his son to face him for words he might not be able to say again with less severity. Bad things seemed to catch up on them in this town rather quickly and the thought of losing him again still plagues him even now.  “ I’m proud of you. You know that? “
