Day 8: Resources & Abilities
What are some of your character’s more notable merits and flaws (including physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, etc.)? How did they develop? How has this helped or hindered them in the past?
Lay's most notable merits (as far as physically) would have to be her hair, and her physique. Being an offspring of two parents who are different races, she has naturally curly hair. It was originally brown, but she has dyed it black. After years of being into sports, Lay keeps up with her fitness. Her stomach is flat, and she keeps her weight at an appropriate manner. Mentally, it would have to be her artistic talent. This is cherished and makes her a living. Emotionally, it's her ability to hide her emotions. Layla does not wear her heart on her sleeve. Instead, she can keep a perfect poker face, but her personality is off. No longer does she have playful banter, but her replies are more serious and blunt.
Flaws. As far as the physical, Layla only feels that her a cheeks are more larger than others. It's not a huge flaw so she doesn't make a huge deal about it. Mentally, she still harbors strong emotions about her mother's abandonment. It causes her to have issues about people leaving her and her being alone.
These merits and flaws have developed over the years. Her confidence stems for her loving father, who, told her that she was beautiful everyday. Mr. Clark is highly aware of Layla's feelings about the motherly situation and has always tried to make Layla happy.
Her flaws have hindered her in the past. It almost kept her from coming to school in New York. She had a boyfriend who she dated for three years in high school. When it came time for graduation, she couldn't come to terms of him moving to California to go to UCLA. Layla cried, cried, and cried. She wanted to go with him, but he told her that she needed to be happy and come to the terms of him leaving. They don't talk because Lay feels that he left her without a probable reason.
