That song has been stuck in my head all day.
I forgot I loved that song!
A container? That’s too much work.
I mean, if you just so happen to stumble upon a large hole or a nearby river let me know.
Let’s try.
Alright deal. You find a water hose, and I'll try to find a large container.
Come again?
the more i see the less i know, but i know one thing.
that I love you.
Take Me Out || Layla & Ian & Mia
Ian looked up at the scene in front of them as he heard Layla’s comment, not surprised at all by her concern for the little boy. She was more genuinely caring than anyone else he had ever met, especially when it came to children- and not just her own. He loved kids too, and he tried to treat people well, but he knew it could never compare to the love and compassion Layla has for others. He only turned back to the girl beside him after the child was safe from harm’s way once again, smiling to himself at Layla’s sigh of relief. He didn’t mind the fact that she got distracted, since he wasn’t taking this little game too seriously. This whole thing was just about having fun- that’s all he wanted anymore, was just to enjoy himself. And he always did when he was with Layla. He liked her for more reasons than that, though. He doubted he’d be able to list them all, and that kind of scared him a little bit. Nothing about this thing - whatever it was, or whatever it was going to be - was simple, but it was going to be worth it. He just hoped he wasn’t imagining the whole thing in his head, and she was feeling something between them, too.
Ian probably should have thought about some answers before he suggested the game, but he had just thought it up on the spot. Her question stumped him for a moment. “Hmm.. that’s a good one. I’ve never really thought about that…” He paused for a moment to think it through. Something from his stay at PITY? Nah, the only good thing that had come out of this was meeting her, and that might be a little weird to say on a first date, even if they had been friends for a while. Something from his childhood? He didn’t have a particularly good nor bad childhood, but nothing really stood out. He kind of had an average growing up, that was until he met them, but that definitely wasn’t something he wanted to relive. “I guess.. I don’t know. Probably something generic like when I got my first dog. There’s not really much I’d want to relive though, I don’t believe in living in the past. I’m trying to just focus on the future, you know?” Now for a question for her. This was a lot harder than he had anticipated. “And I suck at this game already.” He said, with a laugh. “How about.. If we were allowed to have pets, any kind of pet, what would you want?” It was a dumb question, but he didn’t want to ask anything too personal by mistake, or anything even more lame like favourite colour. He ruffled Mia’s hair lightly as he watched her staring at everything around her. She was always so fascinated by everything, and that was one of the things he loved about children so much. Everything was new, and they always saw the best and most beautiful in everything.
A small smile was spread along Layla’s face as she listened to Ian's answer. "That's precious; I always wanted a dog," she agreed admiring the simplicity of it. She never had any pets growing up regardless of how much she begged. Her parents' answer was always no, the excuse being that 'it will eventually die' and 'no muss, no fuss.' She tried sneaking a puppy home once, thinking she'd keep it in her room and it wouldn't bother anyone, but she quickly got caught after a few days. Thank goodness for that though because she had no idea how much work was put into it when it came to caring for animals with things such as feeding and bathing. That seemed like a common pattern with her -getting into situations she couldn’t handle. "Good for you, Ian" she praised, giving him a quick pat on the leg, "always looking on the bright side." That was one of the things she favored about him, his positivity. Whenever she was feeling down or doubtful, which happened more than she would like, she could always count on him to have some clever saying up his sleeve to cheer her up or give her hope again. Just another addition to the list of reasons why she wouldn't know what she'd do without him.
Having pets would at PITY would be great, just as long as no one had anything really freaky like a Komodo dragon or something, and heaven forbid someone had a pet snake or spider. She sat back and thought about it for a moment. “I think I would have a teacup pig.” She suddenly threw her hands up in a stop motion. “No wait wait.” Her posture straightened as the excitement grew in her voice, “I would get a tiger like Princess Jasmine from Aladdin, but we would get it when it was a kitten and train it like a horse, and then when the time came, Mia could ride it to school and wow all her preschool friends, yes.” Layla nodded, agreeing with herself and then laughed at the ridiculousness of her own answer. Just then, Mia squeaked and laughed quietly, slowly crawl into her lap. Layla raised an eyebrow, pleased "well she seemed to like that answer." She rested her chin on top of Mia's head as she thought of her next question. "Alright, as beautiful as PITY is, if could travel anywhere in the world, anywhere your heart desired, where would you go?" She gave him a soft smile as she tilted her head.
I’ve never tried, but probably.
You should try, and then get back to me. I wish I could do that.
On any given day, I could flip my hair and probably cause a small sandstorm. Gotta love my curls, man. They hold onto everything.
Can you do the thing like that kid on that one commercial where he hides quarters and his grandpa's watch in his hair?
It would be so helpful if this place had a pool. I can’t wait to get out of here.
Do you think we could make a pool?
Is anyone around?
Take a wild guess, Layla.
Well I can't just assume. You could be sad and disheartened and needing a shoulder to lean on. Or you could be pissed as newts and have the dire urge to destroy a plate or two.
I don’t know, ask him.
But I liked you two together a lot. Whatever, this isn't about me. How are you feeling?
Yeah, uh.. Landon broke up with me.
I....wait...B-but you...how? Noooooo.
Of course I am. I’m perfectly fine.
Are you sure? Because 'perfectly fine' Phoebe would tell me she hates that song, but let me sing anyway.
Thank you.
Any time...I guess. Are you feeling alright there, Pheebs?
