The First Time

The first time Gavin and Freelancer had a fight, Freelancer walked out and slammed the door. Gavin assumed that meant they were gone and never coming back. As 2 hours pass and Freelancer comes back and leans against the door and sees Gavin sitting and crying. Freelancer opens their mouth calmly. "I was a jerk. sometimes partners are jerks." Gavin just stares at them not understanding. "You do realize this is me apologizing, right honey?" Freelancer says walking to sit next to him. "You left and walked away and now all of 2 hours later, you show up!" "Of course I showed up. Why wouldn't I? You don't trust me?" Gavin looks surprised at Freelancer "Of course I do." Freelancer faces their body towards Gavin. "Okay, well. this is how it works. You fight sometimes, and somebody apologizes. Sometimes I do, sometimes you do.” Gavin crosses his arms and looks at the Freelancer. "Well, how am I supposed to know that." That's when it clicks for Freelancer. "You've never done this before." Freelancer says softly. "No, I've never done this before. There's a short silence between the two of them. An understanding. "You can expect that I'm gonna show up, even if I yell, even if you yell. I'm always gonna show up, okay?. Gavin looks at them. "Okay." There was two things Gavin learned that night. 1. Makeup sex is really really good. 2. If they fight, they will always find their way back to each other.

this is just a thought i had but i like to hc that Gavin and Crux were so close like brothers at one point but then they broke off after something. The Cost being the first time they talk after 10-15 years. However when Crux found out that Gavin was in the inversion, he called him and met up for dinner and they catched up. Gavin telling him about Freelancer and Crux wondering how they can deal with him. Both of them reminiscing about the old times and Gavin wanting Crux to meet the freelancer. I LOVE THEM I NEED MORE
