do I have ANY reason to think this besides the fact that their lands are right next to each other with no sign that the Craws, who are SCAVENGERS, didn't take over the fallen kingdom? No. Will I defend this headcanon with my life? Yes.

To ME the reason why we can't visit present day verdania in-game is because the craws blocked it off as a gravesite and only let the prince in through a side door to mourn (which is also why you have to smash your way in through the front door and he's already there)

Ever since I finished the Lost Verdania area, I've kept thinking about the Clover Dancers fighting the Palestag, and I think it's interesting that they do seem well suited for fighting her. Their basic attack often puts them on opposite parts of the room, meaning that Palestag's tactic of getting away from you becomes rather difficult when they start to cover both sides of the room, forcing her into the center.

But the center of the room isn't safe either, because that's where the Clover Dancers meet to do their sweeping cyclone.

Their last attack also covers most of the room all at once, sometimes making the entire ground unsafe. That in particular seems like something the Palestag would struggle to avoid.

This train of thought doesn't really go anywhere, I just think it's neat that the mechanics of those two bosses align with their story.

Despite the palestags fight being not that interesting, I really like them! They look neet, and also love the cloverstags, I like the plant deers. I also for some reason have concluded their kids would be called fawnlings lol

Me when both of my favourite characters kill themselves (or technically I unknowingly help them to kill themselves) at the end of their plotlines in the place where they felt the most at peace...and also get an achievement for witnessing their deaths.

my theory is that the clover dancers doomed verdania when they killed the palestag to attain 'divine right.'

i say this because of gilly's dialogue after you kill karmelita: she laments karmelita's demise because it was her faded strength that allowed hunter's march - and by extension far fields - to hold out against the haunting.

if we think about the verdant areas of pharloom, each can be traced to a god or being of immense power: shellwood to nyleth; wisp thicket to the father of the flame; moss grotto to eva.

we see this in hallownest too, with the white lady to queen's gardens, and unn to greenpath. in fact, as unn fades, queen's gardens start to encroach on her territory.

and i think that in this same vein, the palestag was the power behind verdania

and this makes sense - the caverns are underground and have no access to sunlight. so, instead, they turn to the power of divinity to keep them alive. and once that divinity is killed, it all fades. and with no god to sustain it, verdania could have ended in nothing else but oblivion

Clover Dancers

Deleted Heart Ripping Mechanic at the End of the Clover Dancers Battle

(Original video) It seems like we were originally able to rip out the hearts of bosses (Kamelita, King Khann and Nyleth); this includes being able to rip the Green Prince's heart from him at the end of the Clover Dancers battle. The Conjoined Heart description actually says it's his heart, so it makes sense that were supposed to do it at the end of the battle to get it. That means…
