Do have any hurt/comfort interaction ideas between gobbles and kaboodle? (Btw I love ur art youve inspired me to make my own comics of the two ദ്ദി ˉ͈̀꒳ˉ͈́ )✧
(Thank you, that is so kind!!! I would love to see, if you'd ever like to share! I am a sucker for these guys. I am the opposite of a plague doctor. I am here to infect the masses with dinobytes)
Under da read more because I kinda went off the rails.
--This is building off of a headcanon I listed in a previous post:
Gobbles has an anxiety (bordering on panic, but for the sake of textual clarity, I'll be using "anxiety/panic") attack and is entirely foreign to it. In his world, there was only very small conflict, and it never got emotions involved. He's felt a little miffed before, and that's about it. He doesn't know what an anxiety/panic attack is, so when it happens, he can't communicate the intense, slimy dread, or the sweaty, shaky hands, or the painful thumping in his chest.
His heavy breathing is pretty audible though, so now the entire ship is watching him struggle. Flappers doesn't know what this is either, so he starts getting stressed too. Kit goes to help but she just uses words, and they seem to bounce off Gobbles, and is unsure if she should touch him or not.
Kaboodle loudly complains about how annoying the commotion is and goes over to fix it himself. He shoves Gobbles' headphones on him and thrusts the manual in his hands after pressing play on an introductory video, that way Gobbles isn't forced to provide input. To "make sure he doesn't need to take care of any other problems", he stands there and watches Gobbles try to distract himself. Kit takes over whatever task Kaboodle was doing beforehand with a worried crease in her brows and Flappers watches the video over Gobbles' shoulder.
Gobbles tries to slow his breathing now that the dread has subsided somewhat, but kind of fails. He can't unclench his teeth and it's starting to hurt, adding to the discomfort. Kaboodle notices this and gets mildly irritated (in his pov, Gobbles is being dramatic. *whispers* he also just hates watching this display. it makes him sad. gobbles shouldn't look like this. he should frolic and be happy like the learnasaurus he is or whatever).
Kaboodle leans over and holds one of Gobbles' arms. With his other hand, Kaboodle insistently pokes Gobbles' cheek repeatedly and goes "open up. Unclench. You're just hurting yourself, c'mon. Unclench, Barney" like Gobbles just has the choice to. Like it's just within his ability right now.
Turns out, the shock and silliness of Kaboodle poking him in the face actually does give Gobbles the ability to loosen his jaw. In fact, it gets a little laugh out of him. His chest feels a little lighter. Kaboodle realizes how effective catching Gobbles off-guard was, and decides to poke his arm too (the one he's holding) a little harshly. Gobbles giggles and tries to shrug him off playfully. Flappers joins in once he puts the pieces together, and now Gobbles drops the manual and headphones as he tries to escape the onslaught.
Apparently, Gobbles really likes physical touch, and being startled with it helps a lot with getting him out of his own head. For the next time Gobbles starts to panic, Kaboodle remembers this.
--Here are some rapid-fire ideas:
Kaboodle gets separation anxiety when the team is isolated from Kit due to an unforeseen circumstance. He insists that while the mission is important, reconvening with Kit is the utmost priority because last time they got separated, she was easily taken down by a single Syntax agent and a few floaties. She can't operate without him, he asserts, while he stresses and raves (very casually, he'll claim) about how screwed she is. Gobbles counters that the planet is running out of time and that Kit knows where the ship is. They argue until Gobbles realizes what's going on. He assures Kaboodle that Kit is strong and calms the robot’s nerves with a soft tone and headpats. Kaboodle "hates" it, but it works. They form a compromise.
Gobbles gets so stressed out and overwhelmed one day that he accidentally growls and snaps his teeth at Flappers when the dolphin got too close. Flappers is startled but immediately forgives him and Kaboodle loved the show, but Gobbles is instantly torn up over it. He would never dream of doing such a thing (he's a grown dino!), even to someone he didn't like. He literally has never growled before in his entire life. Gobbles feels intense, heavy shame for a long time, to the point that when Kaboodle happily mentions it to Kit hours later, Gobbles nearly cries. Kaboodle tells him that Flappers doesn't mind, but Gobbles can't get over how he even had the gall to do such a thing. Never before has he come close to expressing anger at someone, let alone an innocent. Kaboodle shares times that he lashed out at Kit when he wasn't actually mad at her, but instead at something else. He says that Gobbles isn't uniquely evil because he growled at someone, a bunch of people accidentally misplace their anger. Gobbles was having a bad day. As long as he didn't mean it, doesn't want to do it again, and Flappers forgives him, then it's not a big deal. Gobbles feels a little bit better at that.
Kaboodle falls flat on his face after bragging about being able to do a cool trick. He's so embarrassed that he doesn't get back up. Gobbles laughs but starts to fret over him when Kaboodle stays on the ground. He picks Kaboodle up (and gets a blushy mess in return because Kaboodle didn't know he had a thing for being manhandled by Gobbles) and places him on his feet. Gobbles offers Kaboodle encouragement about how cool he is and how he'll get it on the next try, while Kaboodle is malfunctioning from the praise, embarrassment, and manhandling, all in one.
Heyyy! I don't see ppl talking about flappers much, especially his reactions to his world's death. Cause at first he was sad but as soon as saw the syntax ship HIS WHOLE DEMO NEAR CHANGED INTO LIKE SOMEONE FILLED WITH RAGE. like..I'm calling it rn he is gonna be bloodthirsty against syntax as whole ESPECIALLY FOLD(bro literally did the most gruesome & hateful slap to him)
Have any thoughts?
P.s Im surprised no one is talking about this
Flappers is not my favorite, but you can not deny his rage.
That'd be an awesome result of the pilot. We already saw Flappers be completely okay with violence and hold grudges ("I've been waiting years to tear you apart!" woah okay man) before the Syntax reveal. No wonder his whole demeanor changed when he spotted the Syntax. Flappers is very inclined to love his people with his whole heart, and hate whoever bothers them with his whole heart. It honestly seems like he's a guy with a lot of massive emotions, with the ability to act on them very easily.
It's obvious no one likes the Syntax here. You can't move on from the things they've done, the lives they've ended. It's not unreasonable to assume that Flappers will be transfixed on getting revenge in any way he can. Saving worlds is cool and all, and certainly important, but he wants to make them hurt.
A world surviving a Syntax invasion doesn't hurt the Syntax. It just prolongs their efforts to gather float. So, saving worlds is kind of revenge? But not enough for Flappers. Not when they keep coming back.
The Syntax is a much bigger threat than Snappers ever was, and Snappers was enough to make Flappers bloodthirsty. I believe he'll be talking about a kind of revenge that will make even Kaboodle uncomfortable.
Of course, this is all just my hopes. I want him MAD mad.
I got my disgusting rancid Kaboodle plush in the mail the other day, and I got inspired. Imagine my elation upon realizing the plushie images on the Glitch store are transparent PNGs. I was fully ready to manually erase every background down to the pixel.
Heyyy! I feel like Gobbles would become a therapist for practically everyone & a surprisingly good motivator. Because of this, the only reason would be in missions in the first place (like at first before they realize he has more uses) is for emotional support.
I got that vibe from the pilot, yeah. I think it'd be cool if he eventually got more uses, but I think Kit would make the assumption that his greatest talent is emotional support.
I would love to see Gobbles as a therapist. He just learned what death was a week ago, and he's ready to help people cope with the world literally exploding! (He thinks.)
I believe he is especially good at helping people move on from mistakes. His game was educational, and thus a mistake from the player is to be expected. As a result, Gobbles has extensive experience building people up after they fail and giving them the courage to keep trying, just like he'd support other dinosaurs in his game world to tackle grammar rules one more time.
He also seems like the kind of guy (dinosaur) to give others a lot of grace. Someone said something mean? They must have had a bad day. Someone accidentally blew up an oven? It's not like they WANTED to blow it up, let's help them out! Someone still owes him a favor after months of waiting for them to pay him back? Whatever, we all forget sometimes! He didn't need that favor anyway. If he was ever tasked with supporting someone who has done some nasty things, he'd first give them grace, and then focus on getting them motivated enough to try to be a better person, or to stop beating themselves up for accidentally triggering the win condition.
I really like the end bit of your ask there. What if he gets tired from constantly being the emotional support? He loves helping those he cares about, but anything like that is eventually gonna take its toll. Is he only there to suck up the negative energy like a sponge to keep his friends squeaky clean? Is it his only purpose to always be the emotional first-responder, even when he'd rather go enjoy a game world's scenery or mechanics for a little bit? There's gotta be another way he can help, because sooner or later, he's not gonna be needed on missions anymore. The alternative of always being needed forever isn't a particularly fun idea, either. What else can he do, he thinks?
so like if kaboodle and gobbles were ever to get together who would be more flirty
I would cry if someone came up with a scenario in which they NEVER get together.
To answer your question, it really depends on the environment.
Gobbles is more consistently sweet, dropping things like "my little backpack and I" and "woah, Boodle, you're amazing at that!" no matter the audience. (When he's scared, he jumps into Kaboodle’s arms like Shaggy and Scooby because Kaboodle=physical safety in his eyes) He'll make small moves to hold Kaboodle's hand, gives him winks, and showers him in compliments.
Kaboodle can come up with some reallyyyyyy suave things to say, though, and relishes in Gobbles startled and stunned expressions. He makes it a game sometimes to see how utterly speechless he can make Gobbles, but if ANYONE comes within earshot, it's over immediately. He could be telling Gobbles "I really don't see the point of space travel when I can see stars in your eyes" and then Flappers enters and Kaboodle shouts "AS I WAS SAYING, your tablet is way too freaking loud. Do us all a favor and find your headphones, or I swear we'll be down a passenger!" and quickly leaves.
Gobbles is more consistent and sweet, while Kaboodle is more creative but very secretive. Based on that, I suppose Gobbles would be more flirty! That's just my thoughts, though!
Heyyy! I kinda have a headcanon of Gobbles being somewhat like the floaties and figuring out how to beat the bosses so he can figure out how to help the bosses and the hero's weaknesses
I really hope that's the direction they're gonna take with him, that'd be awesome. I especially like the thought of him being able to gain a bunch of knowledge about game mechanics but being entirely unable to actually execute much, meaning that Kit and Kaboodle are the ones who act upon such knowledge.
Which means, they need to learn to stop demeaning him. Kaboodle is explicit in his dislike for Gobbles, and I personally thought Kit was accidentally a little condescending in the pilot. (PERSONALLY.)
He was able to clock Flappers as the hero of his world immediately. Kit didn't consider this enough, which lost them valuable time. Imagine this continues on and on and on with Kit and Kaboodle ignoring or half-heartedly acknowledging Gobbles' very close or completely accurate assessments, and it reaching a breaking point.
Gobbles being able to pick up on game information like the floaties could lead to some awesome character and relationship development.
*cough cough* KABOODLE CONFESSING TO GOBBLES OR THE OTHER WAY AROUND- uhhh... did I say that out louuudddd...ehehe....heheh....can we pretend you never saw this...
If I ever make another fanfic, it'd be about this. I have a certain way that I'd like it to go that can only be conveyed well-enough in fic form. So, I'll keep this in my back pocket for later.
I'll give you this tidbit:
Kaboodle asks for "one-on-one time" with Gobbles that totally isn't a date, no no. Gobbles says yes and Kaboodle thinks "man, I got this guy in my clutches, he's none the wiser!" with a smirk on his face.
Later on in the "one-on-one time," which has nice decor, good music, and dim lighting, Kaboodle says "this has been an alright night. Wanna maybe do this again some other day?" super casual-like and Gobbles goes "what, a second date? Sure!" and Kaboodle chokes on his battery acid, then Gobbles confesses some feelings that have been brewing for a while as Kaboodle tries to simultaneously tune him out and pay utmost attention (he's stuck between caring so much and acting like he doesn't care at all).
Add a little bit of Gobbles pondering why Kaboodle of all people would ask him out. Doesn't he hate him?
psst................. kaboodle angst................... disappears into the void
Oh geez, alright, lemme think.
Kaboodle in a constant struggle with impulse and regret.
Kit goes away for a moment, or perhaps suggests that she'll leave for any amount of time, and Kaboodle's first reaction is jumping to protest it. He asks questions, says how "inefficient" or "stupid" it'd be to split up (even if they're not actively on a mission), or just flat out says "no."
His first impulse is to stop the separation. He ends up making a fool out of himself when his arguments are obviously laced with uncomfortable anxiety, or when they don't make sense. It's obvious Kit can tell.
Kaboodle, now left alone as Kit still needs to do whatever she needs, thinks back on how clingy he was, and regrets it. It was a major embarrassment. He has an unbothered persona to upkeep, and yet it collapses every time Kit stops holding him, stops talking to him, stops being around him.
He needs to be unbothered in order to keep Kit secure, held down to reality. He doesn't have separation anxiety, he's just doing his job of looking after her, and he can't do that if he has a small freakout whenever very normal things like this pop up.
So, he promises himself he'll get colder and more stoic next time, so he can avoid the regret that worms it's way in every time his first impulse is to latch on like the backpack he is. Kaboodle takes deep breaths and prepares insults, practices brushing Kit off, reminds himself to be completely normal about her "abandoning" him for any amount of time.
Sometimes he succeeds and Kit is a little hurt by the cold shoulder. Most of the time, he fails, and falls back into the cycle of knee-jerk fear and humiliating regret whenever Kaboodle and Kit need to be people outside of each other.
Bonus points if Kit feels the same way! (But without the cold shoulder)
hello i’ve come to vote in favor of the suggestive dinobytes headcanons you mentioned in tags, pls speed i need this /ref /nf. nervously throws loose change onto the proverbial stage and then vanishes into a storm of crows
I am slender and you must collect my eight pages (I may sprinkle them in the next couple posts like i did with the second wireplay comic, but I won't make a dedicated post with them.i also just don't have enough for a dedicated post)
IGNORE THAT ASK I JUST SENT! I'M AN IDIOT AND I DIDN'T READ YOUR FIC BEFORE ASKING! SORRY!!!
You're not an idiot at all, don't worry about it.
As for the headcanon you sent saying that the gaming comic I made was them playing something silly, I feel as though Kaboodle could only tolerate a super childish game like Bluey if he made it super dramatic. If he can't do that, he'll be complaining the entire time with a heap of sarcasm.
Gobbles suggests they play Bluey because he loves the show, and now has Kaboodle breathing down his neck yelling "HIT THE BALLOON HIT THE BALLOON HIT THE BALLOON DON'T LET IT FALL IF IT FALLS WE'RE ALL DEAD" and it reduces Gobbles to a mess on the floor.
Reducing Gobbles to a mess on the floor is part of the fun for Kaboodle. He could get used to childish games if he can ruin them for Gobbles.
Dinobytes wireplay comic under da cut because a lot more people liked the first one than I anticipated (warning, it's suggestive af but not explicit obv)
This is less of a headcanon and more of a guilty pleasure, but I like the thought of Gobbles being the more dominant one. Not 100% in character (i really value staying in character personally) but a pleasure nonetheless. I DO headcanon that Stego was Gobbles' first time, so at least he has more experience than the absolute chick repellant that is Kaboodle
It is an absolute pleasure to imagine Kaboodle saying "you can be a little rough. I'm a grown man. Get some confidence, dude" and Gobbles. Doing way too much of that to a very unprepared Kaboodle. Then it all immediately bleeds from him when Kaboodle tells him to pause for a second and Gobbles turns into a nervous wet cat
Only so many, but here's whatever headcanons I can remember.
A large part of the reason why Kaboodle makes a point to talk down to Gobbles is because he ruins Kaboodle's tough-guy persona. He can't be seen with him having any semblance of a nice time, it'd ruin his image. He's a tough battle-hardened robot who does NOT care about an edutainment dinosaur who adds nothing to missions, no siree
Kaboodle finds Gobbles' laugh adorable. Try to get him to admit it and he'll kibble star cannon you
Gobbles finds Kaboodle soooooo cool. Sooooo "out of your reach" kind of cool. Like, how a younger sibling will look up to an older one that is super angsty towards them
Kit is constantly trying to get them closer together to the point it's starting to become obvious to everyone but Gobbles, who's just like "what a coincidence! Everyone has left but us! This has happened 6 times this week! Isn't that crazy?"
Gobbles sometimes gets major anxiety attacks. Flappers freaks out alongside him, Kit is often accidentally condescending, but what actually works is Kaboodle's approach, which is to just stick the tablet in his face and be within general proximity. Sometimes he very begrudgingly keeps a claw around Gobbles' arm if he asks for it, but sometimes he'll also just straight up say no
Stego and Gobbles were in a very healthy relationship before The Reckoning, so when dinobytes happens, Kaboodle is VERY shocked to learn that the freaking learnasaurus has more relationship experience than him
Gobbles likes to play with one of Kaboodle's claws whenever he's bored. He'll open, close, open, close, and will ask for permission to start gently biting his arm, all while Kaboodle tries not to blush while he works
Kaboodle's love language is acts of service, which contradicts his words. He'll say that Gobbles is such a pain to handle, but he'll 1. Volunteer to carry him if he complains about walking for too long. 2. Charge his tablet if Gobbles forgets to. 3. Open doors for Gobbles (Gobbles hasn't touched a door handle in a while). 4. Yell at the McDonald's employee because Gobbles ordered no pickles. Etc. Gobbles going "oh, for me?" with a bright smile on his face is like crack to Kaboodle
Gobbles' love language is physical touch as well as words of affirmation. This means he places a lot of value in what people say, and can get really bummed from time to time from what Kaboodle spits. To counter this when dinobytes happens, Kaboodle will at times tack on at the end of his teasing "jk, jk" so that Gobbles knows he can laugh along (and knows he didn't do something wrong). Kaboodle lets Gobbles touch him and everything as long as no one important is around. Gobbles is iffy on PDA that's anything more than handholding, so he's pretty fine with that
Kaboodle loves his personal space, but Gobbles loves Kaboodle's personal space more
Gobbles is very curious about everything, so he'll listen to Kaboodle explain anything he knows about the Gameoverse, the Syntax, the Nimble, his favorite movies, the way he prefers his pb & js, his very specific taste in jazz, everything. Even if Gobbles wasn't curious, he'd still listen to Kaboodle. He could probably listen to Kaboodle talk about paint drying for eternity and never get bored.
Kaboodle loves watching Gobbles start to rage. It's an emotion the dinosaur doesn't experience terribly often (one that his game world didn't even experience outside of Cromugn), so when he does, his management of it is a little behind others. Kaboodle grabs popcorn while Gobbles rants and raves about whatever got him wound up
Kaboodle experiences cuteness aggression for Gobbles more often than he'd like to admit
Gobbles loves praising Kaboodle. Either he builds that ego of Kaboodle's sky high or he gets a blushy mess, either way is a win in Gobbles' book (he also just really means the praise. He's very earnest about how cool Kaboodle is)
There's probably more I have, but that's what I've got on the top of my head. Hope you like them!
So what are your thoughts on making a dinobytes fanchild I mean someone is already probably thinking of the idea to create one for this gameoverse ship now also make sure to eat well and drink lots of water
Fanchildren have never been an interest of mine. People can do whatever they please and have a bunch of fun with it, I'm not the fun police. I just wouldn't personally make one, but I would always be down to see what other people come up with!
So, my personal take: not my thing, so I'm gonna leave it to the experts.
Thank you for the reminders, and remember to follow your own advice.
Uhm. Okay. So you came to the right place. Because as soon as I saw this I drew it. Dinobytes wireplay is perfect for me because it's the middle ground between suggestive and explicit (I don't like explicit stuff with my blorbos) so THANKS for spreading wireplay propaganda. This was the correct place to say that.
Under da read more in case some people don't want to see wireplay
