(A special Coffee and i made together, involving our personas!)
Snow covered the entire city.
"Owl, are you sure we need all of this?"
Coffee held the long list of groceries as her girlfriend was elbow deep in a supermarket freezer. "None of the items are fresh enough here," the feathered humanoid grumbled. "Humans really have way of ruining food." Coffee sighed. "I know the city isn't the place for you, but please keep it together." Owl continued to stuff food items into the bag her girlfriend had. "Do we need all of this?" Coffee repeated her questioned. "Yes! Do you want good food or not?" Owl waved a loaf of bread in the air. As much as Coffee concerned, as long as her girlfriend wasn't causing destruction, it wasn't so bad.
"Aand i think that's it!" Owl stood up, putting her hands on her hips. "I think my arms are giving out," the short woman complained. She sat in her wheelchair, holding up the many bags. Owl just offered an apologetic smile. "Don't worry, we will drop the groceries off at home, and i'll take you out on a date afterwards." Coffee brushed her dark hair out of her face. "Fine." With a big smile, Owl grabbed onto the wheelchair, bringing her girlfriend to the checkout lane. Coffee quickly put the bag on the counter, and the employee sighed as they started scanning the mountain of items. Coffee awkwardly eyed Owl, who seemed confident, but she knew better. Her girlfriend had never been a big people person. Small sweat droplets were on her forehead and her smile faltered briefly. As soon as the cashier was done, Owl quickly stuffed everything into the bag and paid. Coffee took the bag, placing it on her lap, as she was wheeled out by the panicked girl.
"Sorry for the swift exit," Owl hastily mumbled as they traveled through the dark street. "It's alright," Coffee replied. "I know why you do so." Coffee got out of her wheelchair. But instead of standing, she proceeded to glide a few centimeters off the ground. The static lord had no control over this part of the city, and to those around it appeared like two women walking with a baby stroller. Coffee's skin and hair faded to grey, sighing in relief. "That really took a lot out of you, huh?" Owl joked. Her eyes had dilated quite a bit, her pupils and irises expanding. Coffee stretched out her arms. "How about we go to the chocolate café... it has been a while since we've been there. Owl smiled. "Of course, I'd been meaning to ask the same." Coffee looked at the many bags of groceries. "Do we bring these home first?" Owl nodded, and was about to round the corner when Coffee grabbed her arm. "Don't worry, i got this." She placed her hands on the bags. "We'll sort them out at home, let's go."
"No Owl you absolute dolt, they don't."
"I'm soo sorry," Owl's toned mocked, causing Coffee to scoff as she stuffed the turkey into the fridge with the rest of the food. "Are we done yet?" Owl groaned as she grabbed her girlfriends wrist. "Let's go already!" Coffee sighed as she hastily waved the kids and babysitter goodbye as they stepped outside.
Owl smiled as she took her girlfriend down the street. "Owl! Coffee! Good to see you two," the pair turned to look at mallow, who waved at them. "Mal? What brings you here?" The short woman shrugged. "Groceries, you?" Owl smiled. "Oh nothing. We were shopping too. You know Coffee really struggled to leave behind--" Owl was cut off by her girlfriend putting her finger up to her lips. "We must be going," Coffee stated as she dragged Owl into the shop.
"I think i'm going to take caramel.." Owl pondered aloud as she stood by the cashier. "That's what you always do," Coffee stated, as she crossed her arms. "I get it, but it's just so good..." was also she got as reply. "Hey, look at this." Owl pointed towards a small sign on the counter. "They're doing a Christmas special! All kinds of chocolates with a free drink." Coffee perked up. "You think they have lattes?" Owl nodded as she bend down, tying her shoes. Coffee hummed as she ordered, looking at her phone. Owl faced up, trying to see what was on the screen, causing her girlfriend to turn away. Once the order was placed, the couple sat down at one of the tables near the window, admiring the firework. "It's crazy to think it has only been two years," Coffee mumbled. The brunette nodded. "It felt like yesterday," Owl grinned. "You were such a fan of my writing." The midghost's face went red, glancing at the other supernatural entities wandering around the establishment. "Don't look so embarrassed, we met through it, didn't we." Coffee snickered. "Yeah, it was pretty nice." The waiter came with the order, placing on the table.
"I remember how you used to draw my characters a lot!" Owl had a big smile on my face. "I'm surprise you stuck by side through the whole charade with my ex." Coffee almost choked on her latte as she took a sip. "Don't remind me." Owl snickered. "Sorry, sorry. She who-shall-not-be-named."
"Not the first one to try and get away with weird stuff."
The clock slowly struck a quarter to twelve, more and more people and creatures gathering to set off fireworks. "Surprising that Static allowed firework in the first place." Coffee only nodded, taking another sip of her drink as Owl grabbed a handful of chocolates. "Remember those series we made, we really ought to get back to work on it." A loud pang of firework lit the sky a bright pink and purple, lighting up the entire districts. "Most of our friends are settled down with families and so have we... things really have changed." Coffee watched her girlfriends monologue in surprise, she had never been the sentimental type. "You still have to get your long cat plush off my bed." Owl gave her an offended look.
It was now two to midnight. "How about we go outside for a bit? I bet the rest is there too." The Midghost nodded, wiping the long stream of blood from her nose. Owl offered her her arm, and she took it with glee. The couple walked outside, where a small crowd had gathered around to lit fireworks. Richard took a huff of his pipe as Inky held onto his arm. Isabell was holing the little hands of her vampiric daughter Lucinda, as her husband Gildar watched with a content smile.
Owl and Coffee turned to see a pair of young kids run up to them. "What are you two doing out of bed?!" Coffee panicked, but Owl seemed to pay no mind. "Nox, Caramel, little buddies, hey!" Deciding to let it be for now, Coffee intertwined her arm with Owl's. The latter showed everyone a smile.
Cheers erupted from the crowd as more firework sounded, and the celebrations lasted into morning.
