A thrilling AU about ridonculous race
• Basically, an AU where Kitty wonders why her sister doesn't break up with her boyfriend Jake, since the relationship is clearly harming her and changing her behavior to one that's more paranoid and irritable. There are marks on Emma's body; she looks more tense and tired, and lately, Emma has been experiencing pain in her temples and hypersensitivity in her hands, something that has never happened before. Not to mention, Kitty doesn't understand why most people say they're the ideal couple. The plot twist is that they have tried to separate permanently on many occasions, but both Emma and Kitty's parents, as well as Jake's, use a reset spell that erases their memories of the breakup, the physical abuse, and the reason they wanted to end it. The breakups have been varied: in one, Emma almost filed a domestic violence report; in another, Jake simply tells her he's leaving with his lover; in another, the breakup is mutual; and there are many more versions. The problem worsens because the parents don't know that others are also using the reset spell, so the magic is accumulating, causing Emma and Jake's bodies to mutate. Kitty ends up finding her sister suffering on the floor after discovering the existence of the reset spell and that someone is possibly using it on her.
She finds her skin sticky. Kitty looks at her hands and sees that suction cups are trying to form on them. Her hair seems to have a life of its own now. She also sees that her lips are beginning to seal and that more eyes are growing on Emma. Emma is scared, and so is Kitty. Kitty managed to uncover part of the spell by searching for information about the marks that had appeared on her sister's body, but she doesn't know how to help her or who is casting the spell. Jake is going through something similar, but his mutations are different: rough skin, claws, his eyes are getting smaller, and his mouth is growing enormous with sharp teeth.
There are two endings, the "good" one and the alternate one. In the good ending, everyone manages to reverse the mutations, opening a way for the accumulated magic to be expelled from Jake and Emma's bodies. There are some lasting effects. Despite being in a strange state of savagery and suffering, Jake and Emma remember their parents' confession of what they did to them. They feel disgust towards their families and leave. Their parents try to follow them but lose track. The next day they go back and discover that Jake and Emma somehow managed to break the lease early and fix the minor damage they caused in their monstrous forms. This most likely happened because Jake has connections in construction. Some time later, Kitty manages to find her sister, who got an administrative job in another city and changed her name to Lena. It takes some time, but Emma begins to rebuild her relationship with her sister. The alternate ending is that while trying to fix the problem, they accidentally cause a fire in the apartment. They manage to escape, but Jake has disappeared. Kitty take advantage of the chaos to leave and get Emma out of there too. Days later, the police go to the house where Kitty is staying, which she inherited from her grandmother. She says she doesn't remember much, which isn't entirely untrue. The police leave, and Emma comes out of hiding. The mutations seem less severe compared to last time. Emma is hungry, and Kitty makes her something to eat. Emma's lips aren't completely sealed, but she can't speak like before; she's mostly silent. As for Jake, he was found by the police. They were going to take him to a lab, but he escaped and basically lives in Kitty's basement now. Kitty wouldn't let him stay there after trying unsuccessfully to get him out. Jake sleeps on the floor, growls most of the time, and runs away to steal food. Jake's parents and Emma's parents are being treated as suspects in the fire and the disappearance of Emma and Jake.
