                “Yeah well–I gotta tell you something ‘fore I go.”

He crossed the room in two strides, and sat down beside his daughter. Taking Blayn’s hands in his own his thumb stroked the back of her hand softly.

                 “Something came up and–and I’m not sure how long I’m gonna be gone, Princess. I just didn’t want you to worry when I didn’t come home in a few days.”

His hand continued stroking her’s as he leaned to press a kiss to the girl’s forehead. “Promise me, you and your brother will take care of your mother while I’m gone?”

   Her heart sinks a little bit at the news. SURE, she was used to him leaving, but it was only ever for 

a few days, and the most had only been a week. Now, she didn’t even have an IDEA of when he’d be  back. The kiss makes her chest hurt and she doesn’t want him to get up, doesn’t want him to leave the  room because if he does, then he’s GONE for who knows how long.   “ How long are you thinking? More than a week? Two? ” She was being too hopeful now. Blayn knew  her father well, and that meant that she knew that if the time span were anything REASONABLE that  there was no way he’d be saying these goodbyes right now. “ Mother is perfectly capable of taking care  of HERSELF, but I’ll see what I can do.” She chuckles, leaning her head against his shoulder and tightening  her grip on his hand.
