Percy let out a laugh at her suggestion. “Believe it or not, Katie, I’m not typically a fan of instilling fear into children. I’ve found that does much more harm than good, even if it is the truth. I’m much more inclined to take the kinder route and inform them gently of the dangers of messing with magical plants. Though your way might prove to be a bit more effective. Perhaps we could do a little experiment today. You try your method on half the students and I try mine on the other half. It could be interesting.”
Her shoulders raised into a shrug as a teasing grin slipped across her countenance. “Obviously any student appreciates that about you, but I think I’ve got quite a good method to work with m’self. Can’t imagine what kind of professor I’d end up because of that though, but it’s an interesting thought,” she pauses, brows flicked upward. “Is that your polite way of making a bet, Professor? I’ll have you know I can be extremely competitive, so I’ll try to make it hurt as little as possible when I totally win this one out.”

Percy grinned and began walking behind her toward the greenhouse. “I’ll admit, I’m slightly dreading getting back and seeing what they’ve done to the place. If they haven’t already destroyed the place, perhaps you could help me keep them under control.”
She easily took the lead, the greenhouse a place incomparably familiar to her, outside of perhaps, the Astronomy Tower ( an irony in itself ). “They’ve only had a few minutes so far to muck anything up, so at least we’ve got time on our side. I find the secret to taming any fifth year is spinning tales of horror about children who last tried their luck with a Mandrake or the like --- it typically works and s’not generally too far off from the truth.”

“Now that I think about it, you’re probably correct. For all I know, they’ve burned that entire section of the school down. I place far too much trust in my students,” he grinned. Percy nodded. “Of course. You’re always welcome in the greenhouse.”
Doe-like legs draw her a few paces forward, eyes cast over her shoulder. “Seems we should be getting you back then, Professor. At this rate, we’ll be salvaging what’s left of a greenhouse --- maybe even of Hogwarts like you said.”

“Relationships I get all too well, though why go off the occasional shag? No strings works so well.”
“Well, um, I’ve haven’t really the interest in romantics of any sort. It’s time I focused on myself and my studies,” she resolved.

“Very true, if only I had more motivation to test just how long he can stay the perfect gentlemen.”
“Maybe Florence’ll get him to crack, with her flirty nature. I’d say I wouldn’t mind m’self, but I think I’m swearing off shaggin’ and relationships for the next ten years at least,” she replied with intent for a light-hearted joke, but her tone couldn’t help but falter under her insecurity. Her less than successful runs with boys and girls alike had both stained her reputation and made her wary of others’ advances, anyone knew.

Aspen laughed shaking her head, “I think he’d have a heart attack!”
“Pretty vanilla, isn’t he? Well, at least you don’t have to worry about him being a buggerin’ creep.”

Aspen laughed, rolling her eyes. “Way to guilt trip, Katie! Why don’t you come over tonight and we can study together?”
She couldn’t help the laughter that rose from her, despite her concentrated attempts to maintain a look of incredulous disbelief and hurt. “That’s what I’m here for, yeah? Tonight sounds great --- oh, and I’ll remember to wear my best bra for your timid bunk mate.”

Percy laughed, nodding along with her words. “Ah, I suppose it is. But it’s a bunch of fifth years, so I’m fairly certain they can handle themselves on their own. Though I probably should end up getting back,” he shrugged. “Where are you headed off to now?”
She mirrored the laughter, a brow arched with disbelief. “Of course, fifth years know all too well how to busy themselves. Merlin, I wouldn’t be surprised if you returned to one missin’ a finger to a Fanged Geranium. In fact, do you think I could go back with you? I was looking to check on some assignments of mine anyway. Too, I never mind a little extra time in the greenhouse.”
hiddenseer:
“Yeah, you have to watch out for those ones. They’ve got a habit of stealing our students, just ask Professor Diggle. It’s quite frightening,” he joked. “That’s alright. I’m sure one day won’t kill you.”
“Right, I promise to be more careful next time with those lot. Quite unpredictable, them,” she replies. “In Potions? I wouldn’t be too sure but thanks for the positivity, Professor Trelawney. Isn’t your class resuming though?”

“My potions notes are coveted, I’m not just handing them over! What’s in it for me?”
“What, you won’t help even your best mate without a price? Ouch, A.”
hiddenseer:
“I think I prefer the second one. It’s much more creative. Though I’d have to sympathize with you on being prone to lateness, hence why I’m out here as well,” he smiled. “You’re very lucky that I’m nice, Katie. Do you need me to write you a note or anything so that you don’t get in trouble with your teacher?”
“The second one then, I was definitely abducted by a hybrid creature with wings,” she resolved, mirrored smile on her face. “Incredibly lucky, I know. At this rate though, I’ll have missed Potions.. Merlin. Thanks though, Professor.”
hiddenseer:
“I don’t want to have to take house points away or give you detention, but cutting class is a serious thing. Come up with a good enough reason as to why you aren’t in class right now and I’ll let it slide.”
“A good reason --- um, right, of course. Well, if being self proclaimedly innately prone to lateness counts, then I’d go with that. If not, how much of a stretch would it be to say I was snatched away by a hippogriff?”
