The shurl is yet another creature that calls the dark planet of Talaxia home. It is rather canine in appearance however, unlike dogs they do not roam in packs. The shurl is also equipped with pharyngeal tentacles and a glowing bulb at the end of its tail. Some wonder what the shurl’s pharyngeal tentacles are even for. Some people speculate that the shurl uses them merely to intimidate threats. However, others claim that they are used to tear larger chunks of flesh off of their prey. The shurl is known for its speed and cunning as it cannot rely on brute strength like the Gorbog can. The shurl is also known for forming rare bonds with the native people.

I wanted to try drawing this creature, especially since I was wondering what the scale was relative to the natives.. so I wanted to try drawing a native forming bonds with the shurl.

I absolutely love you’re work. I think you hit pretty close to how big I imagined it would be. Plus in addition to how a native Talaxian would form a bond with such a creature I like to think that the process is very dangerous and time consuming but if done with care and respect the shurl can be an excellent companion. The first step would basically mean you are at the mercy of the creature. If it doesn’t kill you on site you’re off to a great start. Leaving food offerings also helps greatly. However, many Talaxians argue that leaving food to forge such a rare and sacred bond is considered no more than bribery and that only a true bond is forged by building trust alone. I’ll leave this tidbit @chainslaughter hope you like it and feel free to add your thoughts.

Tried to make it look dark but idk if I got the effect I wanted. Anyway this is supposed to be some sort of alien palace or temple.

The Gorbog is an ambush predator that lurks deep within the Glowing forests of a plant that has yet to be named. The bioluminescent markings on sides of the creature act as camouflage much like a tiger’s stripes. The bulky, gorilla-like arms of the Gorbog make it formidable up close and allow it to tare anything caught in its grasp apart. It is also known to occasionally spit glowing mucous at a target, reducing the prey to a puddle.

Just a little environment study I did. It didn’t come out too bad but I still need to figure out how water and rocks work.

Another drawing finished. I like this one a lot, I might add this to the pile of ocs I have yet to develop. Idk what to name her though.

Finally finished coloring. It took longer than I would have wanted but came out pretty good.

Anther sketch that I did. I wanted to limit my color palette to maybe five to six colors as well as use the blending layers and gradients to get specific effects. Another piece I am overall happy with it.

Another drawing finished. I had a little fun messing with layer effects. It came out a lot better than I initially thought it would. I might just make this character an official oc and redraw it.

Finally finished something I have been working one for a while. Have been trying to work on backgrounds and shading. It’s getting better with a little practice but still need to work on angles and color.

Drew another pic of Grog but included a small friend of his. I have been trying to work on including environments more often.

A final project for my one art class. Proud of how it came out considering my inking skills are shit.

Small character design dump. These are a project I did using a old oc of mine. The hardest part was drawing him consistently in different poses.

Really wanted to draw a spaceship. I might add details later but for now I’m happy with it.
