It was rather confusing. “I agree with you there, but I’m used to hearing it. I mean, most  mundanes seem to not understand that women can be fighters too. The Shadowhunter community wasn’t like this at all.” Emma smiled softly . “How about for now, we be the bigger person and just ignore him.”

“we’re the cats,” terra clarified, confused as to why she would take it literally considering how common that saying was. “and you just let it happen? you know if you don’t take action against creeps they could easily escalate a problem?” despite her best efforts to ignore people like that, she’s had a few experiences where that never did her justice either. she crossed her arms, rolling her eyes. “fine, but if he ends up stalking us then i’m beating him up. agreed?”

yelena could tell her joke had made the girl a bit nervous to pet her dog, which wasn’t her intention. “i was only kidding – she is a very sweet dog,” she said, her lips curving into a small smile. “fanny, sit,” she commanded as she looked down at the dog to make sure she listened. her gaze returned to the girl, giving her a reassuring nod. “go ahead,” she insisted.

“really?” it was weird but also flattering in a way that someone would dress up as him for a holiday, however he didn’t like the idea that no one believed he was real. “unfortunately i do age here. being stuck as a boy wasn’t bad at all, wouldn’t mind aging backwards.”

“oh, man,” the panic obvious in his tone. thankfully i’m not evil, he thought to himself. his ego immediately hurt at the way she spoke to him. “i’m looking at you like an idiot? you’re the one who just did some freaky shit right in front of me - you expect me not to stare?”

“For money.” Tess replied simply. “She married him, has to stick with him for about three to five years and then gets into his will. Once he dies, she inherits it and bam, instantly rich.” She explained. “So, right now I need you to finish setting up the tables and the chairs. I got the tables out, we are putting four to five chairs per table, and make sure that the ones on the left are tied with the pink balloons and the ones on the right are tied with gold. If you get confused, just look at the centerpieces. They have the same color scheme.”

“that’s... gross,” peter said bluntly. sure, it was a quick and easy way to get rich but he couldn’t imagine having to endure an old person’s company for too long. “okay, this sounds easy enough!” he looked around, not really knowing where to start. “are the chairs in another room i should get?”

“there’s really nothing to eat in the fridge?,” he asked, wondering if he had stocked up on food or not. he wouldn’t put it past him to forget. peter was embarrassed thinking about what he could have possibly said, he wasn’t surprised by the fact that he spoke while he slept. it seemed to happen often enough. “uh... i mean – i knew that, sometimes i catch myself waking up and i’m mumbling lyrics. don’t ask why, i honestly don’t know. as long as you don’t know what i said, all good!”

“yeah, no. we’re not going to talk about that but hey, on the brightside i did hear that people having a near-death experience together only brings the bond closer,” she pointed out. “if that’s the case, i totally lied about the cat looking better than you do.”

“i’m just surprised he has them here, but at the same time not.” he laughed softly. “i cannot shapeshift, not one of the abilities the force gives us.” he stated. 

“honestly, same but i’m glad he did because i was dying to know what you looked like... and well, now i know,” she said. “i got you, want me to paint your face green? it would be fun, i’ll enjoy painting and you’ll be green. it’s a win-win.”

“yeah, so powerful,” he said, his tone evidently sarcastic. jacen let out a dry chuckle as shira referred to him as being easy. “yeah, it does actually but hey, whatever lets you sleep at night.”

“i don’t know what you’re talking about, i would never bully you,” she replied jokingly as she gave a small shrug. “do you need me to boost your ego, is that what you’re looking for right now? i think you’re jealous i like cats.”

“of course he did.” grogu sighed lightly, knowing that terra wouldn’t give up once she got an idea into her head. “i mean, din tried, i never listened.” he laughed. “well thank you. i kind of miss being green sometimes.”

“in his defense, i asked him to show me – i was curious!” she shook her head, laughing along with him. “i think your closest solution would be green paint, unless you can shapeshift. i used to know a guy who could do that and oddly enough he was green too.”

“well i was kind of force to be a spy when i was fourteen and as a spy, you don’t exactly make a lot of friends. plus i have the enemies of my parents and uncle.” he added. “i hope not either.”

fourteen was a rather young age to be forced into doing anything like that. “i mean... i think i’ve watched enough movies to understand that usually the spies win at the end? the good ones at least.”

“I think that is one thing I will never understand about people who enjoy wearing clothes. The whole outfit thing. I am cool with sweats and a shirt, usually Eddie makes me dress up for something important. However, most of the time I am in my uniform for work.” Evan chuckled. “Does this mean we should go shopping before we go out tonight? If so, you are buying me a milkshake at the mall.”

“i like looking nice, it’s not a crime. to each their own, as long as it’s comfortable. dressing up all nice and whatnot makes me feel like i’m going to be productive and have a good day,” she said with a shrug. “definitely should go shopping! and yeah, milkshakes are on me,” she happily agreed with a nod.

“yeah, i mean, you can ask din, but i was kind of a rule breaker when i was little. when i was in his ship, i’d touch all these buttons he would tell me not to and mess with a silver ball thing that he told me to leave alone.”

“speaking of din, he totally showed me a picture of what you looked like,” she mentioned with a chuckle. “i can see it, i think people would let you slide on the trouble because who would ever call you out? green is totally your color, by the way.”

“don’t be lame, i would pick you up and squeeze you! the cute aggression really gets to me when i see cats, truly my weakness,” she said with a chuckle. “i would be very upset if you did, honestly.”
