The lie slips from his tongue before Tim can even think about it. A habit, he supposed. Built up for as long as he could remember – lying to his family, to doctors, to his friends. Hell, even to himself. Why think about the truth when you can hide behind whatever excuses your mind can conjure up.

Arms cross across his chest, pressed against familiar red flannel. There was comfort, however slight, in routine. Knowing what to expect, what to see and hear, and feel. The flannel was a near constant these days, aside from when the checkered fabric was being washed. Constant. Routine. An attempt at order in the fluctuating chaos of his life.

❝ Does it matter if something did happen? ❞ He adds, watching Kate with a guarded gaze. It was difficult to know where they lied with each other, how far trust could go. Then again, Tim didn't find much trust in anyone these days. Unreliable memory and ex-friends wanting you dead tended to do that, though.

Irritation bubbled beneath his skin, mixing into Alex's blood with ease. He didn't need a babysitter, didn't need anybody hovering over him whilst he worked. He'd been alone until now, had he not? Whilst he had yet to remove Jay or Tim from the equation, Alex was making great progress overall – which made Kate's words sting even further.

❝ Wonderful, ❞ came the muttered response under his breath, complete with an eye roll – back turned to the woman, of course, so she couldn't see such action. He didn't need berating over that either.

Camera clenched in a tight grip as he strapped it to the body harness he'd taken to wearing. Much easier to have both hands free, and this way he didn't have to sacrifice recording. He couldn't sacrifice recording, couldn't risk losing time –

What used to be an exciting--thrilling even--escape from the comfort of her home to finding supposed ghosts in the woods had led Kate to run to Alabama; leading her here in front of a man she grew more uncomfortable around every passing second. It felt as if a stone was weighing on her gut.

        She crossed her arms, glaring at him. He had turned around and Kate moved to the side, eyes narrowing and standing up on her toes to be able to catch a glimpse of what Alex was doing. He turned around then, and Kate returned to her normal height, arms still crossed. She glanced down, a camera strapped to his chest, for god knows what reason.

( ooc ): I headcanon that for any slenderverse crossover verse (mostly marble hornets because idk I think it's the easiest place for her to crossover to), it would be right after Kate witnessed CR die. I think the method in how he did it, how he tried to convince Kate to do the same thing, was so traumatic to Kate that she had to leave the place entirely. She likely still had the house up for sale a little bit after, until she decided entirely that she can't stay in the location any longer since her mental state was declining even more with Slender there and what she witnessed with CR. So, she left, trying to outrun her past, which eventually leads her getting involved in the mess these webseries are in. (So, really, she isn't outrunning anything).

( ooc ): I need to write up an about section for Jay, I'll try to do that later today while I blog hop.

Some thoughts about Jay: I know Troy has said that Jay is gay, I want to honor that, but I also don't imagine my Jay really being that easily attracted to anyone. Sort of asexual-aromantic, but since attraction is on a spectrum, I feel like it sort of fluctuates. (In general, I'm not a big jam shipper, I lean a little bit more towards Jaylex if anything). I think as his obsession grows, romance and attraction is far from his mind since in my portrayal, when Jay becomes attached to something, especially with the way he's affected by the Operator lingering around later (more violent and paranoia-prone), he really really goes head-deep into whatever he's working on. That's what the channel Marble Hornets is to him.

I also want to say that I'm tempted to put a rule down that if you're interacting with Jay, please also interact with Kate. This is Kate's blog, Jay is just a side muse. I don't want Kate to just go ignored, as is often in the rpc since she's a female muse.
