A GODDESS BOTH GENTLE AND CRUEL
Aphrodite, more than anyone, know how love can be either an absolute bliss or a tragic problem, and she considers this as a type of power. As the Goddess of Love, she wears a Girdle that was fueled by the power of causing love and/or desire on anyone, and she acknowledge the power of those. Love isn’t soft, and she knows it. And while she won’t use her powers on anyone, or for any cause, she won’t hesitate to make use of them if it proves itself necessary.
With love, can also come jealousy and possessiveness, and like humans, she is prone to those too. Her possessiveness of her child, Eros, triggered the violence within her to the point of making her kill the woman he loved. She was aware of how deep was his love for Psyche, but the motherly love and the sick jealousy that came with it made her ignore the thing she held more sacred, in order to keep whom she so dearly love to herself. She can make someone be inflamed with passion for someone who will later in life hurt them, only out of personal revenge. As the Goddess of such a strong emotion, any and every person who go against her, can end up involved on a dangerous vendetta.
Aphrodite was never fragile as everyone seems to think, her femininity does not exclude her strength, and her kindness to those who serve her, and who are part of her friendship circle does not make her a GOOD goddess. Aphrodite is like love itself, she can hurt, or she can bless.
