"not all men are misogynists, i'm a man and i'm not a misogynist! i'm a good guy, i've never treated a woman like that and i never will! i hate misogynists!!" aka the "please tell me i'm one of the good guys. i am not getting defensive because i am in denial of my own misogynistic behaviors! how dare you excuse me of being a bad person because of my gender! you're sexist!" Comparing trans men and mascs talking about our experiences to gamergate and MRA activities is a baffling attempt at silencing these conversations for many reasons, not least of which being that actually, trans men and mascs were squarely within the targets of these groups’ bigotry. It’s a take so divorced from reality and obviously so to anyone who was around at the time and affected by it that it raises questions into how the people making the argument behaved during that time as to have such a skewed perception of what it was actually about.

hey young queers. I need you to hear me when I say part of growing up is learning to not care. part of growing up as a queer person is learning to abandon online discourse in favor of a “who cares, welcome to the club” kind of attitude. I promise you, you will feel so much less stress when you stop the infighting over slur discourse and identities you think don’t make sense. adopt a “I may not understand but it has no impact on me” mentality I promise it will be so much better for your mental health.
