I’ve been trying to wrap my head around Gobbles’ height for awhile now. I found a height chart of sorts online with the main Farcade group and a bunch of other characters that haven’t appeared in the series. There, Gobbles appears to be about 5’6.

But 5’6 sounds way too tall for him! I compared him to Kit in the height chart and he’s about at her shoulder. I then went back to the pilot and confirmed that he was still at shoulder height when standing next to her. The beginning scene in the ship still throws me off, though. He looks so tiny there! His full body fits in the chair!

Also, if Gobbles is 5’6 then the average learnosaurus height just went up. If we consider Stegothesaurus and Bongoraptor to be the usual height and Gobbles is short, then the average height for their species would be about 5’9. Which is on the taller side for humans but pretty short for a species of dinosaurs.

Gangle was someone prone to dreaming, many times in her past she dreamed of many things. Dreamed of having a normal family, dreamed of having her art skills grow, dream of going to other worlds, dreamed of having friends, just dream after dream but with nothing to show. Even within this colourful world of circus tents, green fields, brown trees, pure waters and exciting theme parks. It was all so fake.

If she could have believed in this place more, she could have accepted this place as the place she belonged. Now, she simply saw it as the place where she was to be punished for wasting her life. For not holding true to what she wanted to do, for not being honest enough to the people in her life when she should have. There were so many regrets flowing through it was like a dam of tears ready to blow at any moment.

Yet, it didn't because she couldn't let it. Allowing those emotions to flow out would ruin everything. She knew this fact to be true hence was why she was taking a moment to gather herself by the digital lake. Her only company being Lady Moon who was someone Gangle spoke to often. The ribbon girl was always fond of the moon it gave her so much. Plus, the night sky was one of the most beautiful parts of this world.

"If only I could wish for wings and fly away. I'd fly higher and higher until I was out of here. Maybe, if I flew high enough I could find a way home. I could tell Blue how sorry I was for relying on him so much, tell Pink I forgave her for as many times as it took till she believed me, tell Purple she that she sucked as a mother for putting all that pressure onto me but that I still love her. And tell Dad I'm sorry for letting his efforts go to waste when he wanted to help me so badly. I'm sorry....I'm so sorry..."

Tears fell from her eyes as she started weeping. She wanted to go home, she missed her family so much, but such dreams don't come true. She needed to stop dreaming so much. It didn't give her happiness!

She was so lost in her misery she didn't even hear the crash or the dinosaur falling to the bush nearby to her. She simply kept crying.

Looking around confirmed, to his knowledge, that he fell somewhere the ship hadn't followed. What's worse was that this world seemed to have a functioning day-and-night cycle currently set to the latter. The dinosaur was far from a night creature. All of his adventures back home took place under a bright sunshine. He wished he wasn't in the dark so often now. The lack of lighting even made the tall structure next to him (it kind of looked like a circus tent) look scary.

It was then he heard his first voice of this game world. Gobbles turned towards it immediately but didn't approach quite yet. The voice was quiet, so quiet that if he rustled the leaves he would no longer be able to hear. But even then he could barely make out any words. What he could still tell was: this person held a deep and profound sadness. Gobbles didn't know her or what was upsetting her, but he sympathized with the emotion.

The dino almost felt bad about interrupting her to ask for help. It was as if he was getting in the way of an intimate moment meant for her ears only. That would be very rude!

So he waited longer to work up that courage. Then he finally left his hiding place with the rustling of leaves to mark his proper entry into this world. He hoped she wouldn’t be upset to find a stranger.

“Excuse me! I hope I’m not interrupting.” He held up his hand to do a small, polite wave. “My name’s Gobbles. I was looking for someone here to talk to.”

Character Development Questions

Grammar and spelling mistakes. It annoys him to see it much more than the average person and he is always holding back the desire to correct someone's writing if it's not a good time. Please, let him help you. He loves to teach people about words and letters.

But the big one is ignorance. People who have the opportunity to learn, ask for help, or are presented with factual information and reject it. They would rather stay only with the falsities that benefit them or refuse to change or improve themselves at all. This is Gobbles' thematic antithesis. For clarity, this has nothing to do with people that have not received the opportunity to learn or are too young to understand certain topics. This is more so about grown adults who make the conscious choice to remain in the dark. Even worse if they try to keep information away from other people.

How easily do they make friends?

Character Development Questions

Very! He was practically Mr. 100 Friends over in his world. Though him being the designated hero of that world puts into question how deep some of those friendships were, but that’s not a conversation for today.

As long as someone is nice to him, they are Gobbles’ friend. Through common ground and kindness, he believes friendship is possible even between very different people.

What type of person is your character most likely to be drawn to?

Character Development Questions

They would have to be kind, of course. Someone that can make Gobbles smile whenever he feels down. People that are mean to others are an instant turn away, but he is also a patient learnosaurus that’s willing to offer second chances if the other person is willing to change as well. (He was made to be a teacher so he’s patient by nature)

As a learnosaurus, he is also insatiably curious and impressed by intelligence. He likes someone who’s witty and can teach him new things or join him on his learning adventures. Sharing what one knows with their friends is a favorite activity for many a learnosaurus. Be willing to understand, be willing to learn. And there is always more to learn.

He had a dream about his home again. Not about its destruction, but a normal day with his friends. All happy and playing word games with him. Gobbles was able to sleep soundly.

Then when he woke up, the juxtaposition of everything around him felt even greater.

"You think so?" He smiled gently at the compliments. So it wasn't only for his appearance, then? He thinks he understands a little better now what other people meant.

"Thanks! Takes one to know one, I suppose. You've been very benevolent with me."
