Sinchon - Seoul, Korea
Being proud of having so-called “yellow fever” is a form of racism. You are not only trivializing a disease that is still prevalent (yes it really is, affecting roughly 300,000 and killing 20,000 people each year) but also saying you won’t date other races is…well racist, isn’t it? You don’t know what tomorrow may bring; you haven’t met all men from every race. How can you happily dismiss a person based on their ethnicity before knowing their personality? You would be happy with an abusive partner as long as he/she was a particular race? Whether or not this is what you believe, by making that statement, this is the thought that is implied. It is a form of hypersexualization. Sometimes I feel like people who post things like “I want a Korean boyfriend/girlfriend” have this assumption that all Korean people are like their bias. K-pop does not equal Korea.

Sometimes I miss Shinchon. But I can't remember if the nostalgia is for that place or for that point in my life. Maybe it's both.

Somewhere in Seoul by Vincent Lee
This is what my life feels like in Seoul. Somewhere in Seoul, I'm living and breathing and working and I walked a long ways today, even though I have a bit of a cold, because I've been living here for over five months and I haven't been living here.

I haven't said anything about this, almost because I didn't want to jinx it.
I'm going back to Korea. I leave Tuesday morning.
I will be teaching kindergarten and preschool at a private international school that runs an English immersion program for their Korean students. So it's just like teaching kindergarten in the States, but I'm doing it in Korea.
I am so freaking excited.
Once again my blog will be inundated with pictures, MY pictures, of Seoul.
More to come on my adventures.
Right now I'm doing my "reset your body clock by staying up for 24 hours and switching to KST" thing. It's just past 2pm in Korea now. I only have to be awake for 8 more hours.
This is such a wonderful opportunity. I can't wait to tell you all about it.

Sunday morning in Seoul, Korea.
Korean designers Je Sung Park and Woo Jung Kwon have developed an invisible umbrella that will keep you dry by repelling rain. Consisting of a simple plastic stick that creates an artificial wind at the top, the ‘umbrella’ deflects raindrops before they hit you by sucking in air at the bottom. The intensity of this wind-shield can be varied depending on weather condition and number of people sharing the device—the length of the stick is also adjustable.

Beopjusa, located in Boeun County, in the province of Chungcheongbuk-do, South Korea, was initially constructed in 553 by Silla monk Uisin. In the Goryeo dynasty, this temple is said to have been home to as many as 3,000 monks. A few facilities from this period still remain on the temple grounds.
Beopjusa was chosen by Bruce Lee as the original setting for the movie Game of Death, with the five floors of Palsangjeon pagoda representing five different martial arts. Since Bruce Lee died before the movie was completed, the screenplay was changed, and Beopjusa was edited out.
