Battlestar Galactica: The Miniseries ↳ Kara Thrace
Random Potential Fanfic Snipbit #2
Lee Adama wasn't a man of faith. He didn't believe in a god or the collective gods of Kobol. But despite this, there was one prayer he would say. One he would whisper every night for months to come. For a woman long gone; a woman he loved.
Love isn’t brains, children, it’s b l o o d…blood screaming inside you to work its will. (x)(x)
"There once was an amazing but crazy viper pilot. Her name was Kara Thrace; and I Ioved her... "
#OTD in 2005:
Felix: “Hey, nice work.”
Boomer: “Thanks. What’s going on?”
Felix: “Lot happened while you were gone. Congrats.”
Boomer: “Thanks.”
Bill: “Congratulations to both of you. You carried out a very difficult & dangerous mission. And you did it despite any personal misgivings you may or may not have had. And for that I’m very proud. Thank you.”
Racetrack: “Thank you, Sir.”
Boomer: “Thank you, Sir.”
Adama: “Thank you...”
Lee: “Someone get a Doctor! Get Doc Cottle! Oh, Dad…”

Marriage AU Monday
Happy Marriage AU Monday! It's not WIP Wednesday yet, but I haven't written in a couple days and wanted to push myself to actually hold myself accountable and write today. So here's a short little snippet I just cooked up for Lee and Kara's Totally Fun and Totally Unique Wedding Day in A Gift from the Gods (Starpollo Marriage AU.)
Kara stood across from him. She stood across from him, and nothing mattered anymore. The anxiety burning inside him simmered into a dull flicker (that was always there, he always lived with) and the sanctuary cooled down, no sweat beading down his forehead from the candles, the crowd behind them. His ears stopped ringing as the seminarian sang the final note. He didn’t feel like he was going to collapse, dissolve into a grief heavy mass, or run away. Not now-- not ever. Perhaps he’d known from the first minute he met her, that wherever Kara Thrace led him, Lee Adama would follow. Against everything-- the Gods towering above them, the faith he never believed in, the oaths he’d taken with his fingers crossed behind his back. Protect the colonies. Live and die by the Fleet. What did anything else mean compared to-- “The words I am about to speak are the most powerful in the universe.” The Chaplain’s deep voice. Kara raised her chin, her blond fringes framing her cheeks. He suddenly wanted to brush them back, tuck them behind her ears. A tenderness he hadn’t earned yet. She met his gaze. The candlelight deepened the green in her eyes, a shining quality swimming within the depths. Oh, Gods, she was trying not to cry. “Kara,” he whispered. The priest was addressing the guests. Lee sent up a prayer: Don’t let anyone hear us. “It’s going to be okay.” “You came,” her voice lower, softer than his. He’d heard it several times today. Now, he told the truth: “I did. You needed me.” “Will the couple please join hands?”

WIP Wednesday
Happy Wednesday! And what better day for a wedding! Behold, a sneak peek of Lee and Kara's Wedding Day in A Gift from the Gods (Starpollo Marriage AU).
The ceremony started in five minutes. The ceremony started in five minutes, and Lee still couldn’t believe he was standing here. He didn’t sleep well the night before, which he spent in a hotel room closer to the barracks instead of his apartment. The room wasn’t cheap on such short notice, but he coughed up the cubits anyway, because a voice in his head warned him: If you stay home, there’s a chance you won’t go. He saw it play out-- locking his door from the inside, unplugging his phone, accepting defeat. A sickening cowardice. Another violent thought: And what will you do if she shows up? If she came looking for him, what would he do? Would she beg again? “Please, Lee. I know how insane this all sounds-- no, it is. But there’s no other way to make this right. Not to me. Let me try." If there was one thing Lee Adama always wanted to do, it was the right thing. And doing the right thing meant getting up at dawn, taking a steaming shower, and shaving twice just in case he missed a spot. He put on his full Dress Greys. He didn’t like wearing them-- the gold shoulder braid weighed him down, the sash around his torso constricted him, made him stand too straight. He looked in the mirror, and remembered the last time he wore them. He couldn’t breathe for a minute after that. He drank a glass and a half of whiskey before he left. Brushed his teeth three times in case anyone-- the priest, his father, Kara-- smelled it on him. Gods, he’d be so humiliated he’d probably gag before he could even say the vows. Get it together, Lee. Four minutes until the ceremony. He showed up to the temple an hour early. “We’ll have the ceremony at the barrack’s,” she told him. She had trouble looking him in the eye as they went over the details, sitting at her apartment’s dining room table. There were three seats. “I don’t think a city priest will do it… they’re more modern.” Was that where she married Zak? Would he be standing in the same spot as him? Will you feel him over your shoulder? Would his ghost be sitting in the pews? But he didn’t ask her. He didn’t stop her. “Yeah, okay, whatever you want.”
