Jamie joining EE to play the husband of a woman who is related to *the* nicola mitchell .. how iconic!
I cannot wait to see him sharing scenes with Dame Laura Doddington.
There seems to be some rumours in the EE fandom that the current owners of the queen vic pub will be replaced so we may see Jamie as the landlord of the pub! Which would be great to see.
How exciting.
We're really excited to see him in this role! 💙
If those rumors are true, seeing him in charge of the Queen Vic would be utterly amazing! 🤩
Some very exciting news just reaching us - Jamie is going to be stepping onto the famous Albert Square this Summer as he joins BBC EastEnders as part of the new Hawkins family! 💙
He has been cast alongside Patricia Potter (Holby City), who will play his wife Gemma Hawkins, who is the sister of established character, Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington). They will be joined by Marian McLoughlin (Trying) who will play Gemma's mum, Rose, Felix Uff (Amadeus) as their son, Ryder Hawkins and Anna Constable (Imposter 22) as Gemma's younger sister, Jodie Hawkins.
Jamie has been quoted as saying;
“When 12-year-old me rushed home from school in 1985 to catch the very first episode of EastEnders, I could never have dreamed that one day I’d be walking onto the iconic Albert Square as a character myself. It’s a privilege I don’t take lightly, and I’m thrilled to be making my mark on this crown jewel of my beloved BBC”.
We are so excited to see what this new role in such an iconic show will bring! 💙

The New Year is upon us so it’s once again time to look back on Jamie’s 2025!
Most of the first quarter was largely quiet but March did give us our first look at Jamie’s return as Archie Hughes in Series 3 of Beyond Paradise. March 13th also gave us the confirmation of an airdate for later in March. March 28th saw the return of Beyond Paradise to our screens, but before that, on the same day, Jamie and Barbara Flynn (who plays Anne) were interviewed on BBC Breakfast.
April was more of a busier month. It continued with episodes 2-5 of Beyond Paradise. Then we had the announcement of the Doddie 5 Lions Challenge which would see Jamie and the team cycle from Belfast to Dublin via 4 provinces of Ireland in 555 miles. Also in April, Jamie appeared on the Spooning With Mark Wogan Podcast.
May 3rd was the final episode of Beyond Paradise. There were 2 Comic Cons for Jamie in May too; firstly he attended Comic Con Brussels then later in the month (going into the 1st of June) he was at FedCon in Bonn.
June picked up again for Jamie as it was the month of the Doddie 5 Lions Challenge which began at the Kingspan Stadium in Belfast and they cycled over 6 days where they reached the Talbot Hotel in Dublin at the end (on the 20th)! The 18th saw the premiere of Heavyweight which was the opening film at this years Raindance Film Festival.
The rest of the year was a relatively quiet one for Jamie.
In July, Jamie (and several other Battlestar Galactica cast members) was annouced to be attending SpaceCon in San Antonio, Texas.
Then September was a little more busier with 2 casting announcements and a convention. First up, there was the news about feature film ‘The Hive’ followed by the announcement that he was returning for Series 3 of Signora Volpe. Then September 19-21 saw Jamie go over to New Jersey for the Salute to Battlestar Galactica convention. October was the Space Con event in Texas.
To end the year, November saw the announcement of 3 separate UK Comic Cons (Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales). Then, finally, December gave us the Christmas Special of Beyond Paradise!
2025 has given us a lot to look forward to already for Jamie’s coming year; 3 comic cons in different parts of thcountry and at different parts of the year. 2026 will also see Series 4 of Beyond Paradise, and hopefully the release of The Hive and Series 3 of Signora Volpe. Though we are sure there’s even more great things to come for Jamie and his career in 2026!
As ever, we would like to thank you for all the support of our page over this past year and wish you all a very happy new year!
If you don't follow us on our other socials, then you wouldn't have seen the two pieces of news we announced yesterday!
The Hive
First up is a new role and Jamie will star in feature film 'The Hive' which comes from 'Money' director Martin Rosete. The film stars Sophie Cookson as Maria Gomez alongside Adam Pålsson, Gonzalo Bouza, Paul S. Tracey, Godeliv Van Den Brandt and Mundy Rieu. The official synopsis released to Variety reads:
Maria Gomez, a rising star at Interpol, who is parachuted into The Hive – a high-tech, highly classified command unit — just as a bomb goes off during a summit in Tenerife. Headed by Potente’s notoriously ruthless Kate McKenzie, The Hive have just 90 minutes to scour the city, execute the shadowy threat before it strikes again, and neutralize an unexpected threat from within.
The film, which was filmed in Canary Islands, Spain, and Cologne, Germany has already wrapped but Jamie's role is yet to be announced.
Maximilian Leo and Jonas Katzenstein produce for augenschein Filmproduktion along with Scott Veltri, Jack Heller and Georgia Poivre. Screenplay is by Gabriel Dowrick and Ben Phelps and co-written by Gemma Ventura and George Nicholis. Co-produced by Tower Way, Assemble Media and ZDF and was funded by the Film und Medienstiftung NRW and the German Federal Film Fund (DFFF) as well as the Spanish Tax Incentive with production services provided by Volcano Films in Spain.
Signora Volpe Series 3
The other piece of news is that Jamie will be reprising his role as Adam Haines in Series 3 of Acorn TV's Signora Volpe which has recently started production in the Lazio and Umbria regions of Italy.
The synopsis provided by Deadline says:
Across the season, Sylvia Fox is investigating the murder of the owner of a local winery, and probing the mystery of a beautiful young man found dead in the bed of a power couple who claim never to have seen him before. Meanwhile, Sylvia’s relationship with Carabinieri captain Giovanni Riva deepens, but the finalization of Riva’s divorce and his desire to set down roots in Umbria threatens Sylvia’s sense of independence. In the final episode, Sylvia experiences an emotional crisis as someone close to her suffers a violent death, and Adam returns, injured and in danger, to ask for Sylvia’s help, and test her loyalties to the limit.
The series also stars Tara Fitzgerald as Sylvia’s sister, Isabel Vitale, Giovanni Cirfiera as Giovanni Riva, Elena Di Cioccio as Brigadiere Roberta Barzini, Matteo Carlomagno as Matteo Vitale, Marianne Leoni as Raffaella Tasso and Imma Piro as Antonella Vitale. Buffy Davis also returns as Miriam Cavendish.
Signora Volpe was created by Rachel Cuperman and Sally Griffiths, who also write, and the pair exec produce alongside Fox. It is produced by ITV Studios-backed production company Route 24, whose Marc Samuelson, Josie Law and Robert Cheek also exec produce alongside Catherine Mackin and Bea Tammer for Acorn Media Enterprises, Simon Cox for Banijay Rights, which has international distribution rights, and Cristina Giubbetti for Cattleya, which are providing Italian production services. David Evans directs.
It's that time of year; Jamie's 52nd birthday is coming!
As ever, and albeit a bit late this year, we would still like to put together another little birthday video and we’d like as many fans as possible to take part!

Here is Jamie's section of the BBC's media pack 'Beyond Paradise' interviews.
Also, you scroll to the bottom of this post to read some lovely things his co-stars have said about him in their press pack interview.
Archie’s back in Shipton Abbott. How did it feel returning to the world of Beyond Paradise?
I couldn’t have been more delighted when Tim Key, our executive producer, suggested we meet for lunch in London. He pitched a storyline to me that would bring Archie back. It really surprised me - it wasn’t what I was expecting. I love that part of the world and I love all the people involved. It’s such a warm-hearted work environment. The vibe you get on-screen is very much echoed behind the camera. So for me it was a no-brainer! The storyline was really fun, and I liked what Archie had to do this time. The character had moved on, he’s matured and learned from his previous heartaches. Hopefully viewers will enjoy the ride.
What has Archie been up to since we last saw him?
It’s not explicitly stated in the story but in my head Archie has been away licking his wounds. He’s a man of independent means - he runs a vineyard and a big business and is very hands-on with that. But he’s also taken some time to travel, to explore the wine business in other parts of the world and to reflect. He’s a middle-aged man, single, and he’s had many opportunities in life but he’s burned some bridges along the way. I think he’s done a bit of maturing and comes back to Shipton Abbott as someone who’s ready to be more responsible, vulnerable, and open to new opportunities.
Archie was determined to move on from Martha. Where do we find him now in terms of his feelings for her?
I think Archie will always have more than just a soft spot for Martha. They’re childhood friends and their families know each other. They’re from the same part of the world and they almost got married! That history will never change.
For the record, I don’t think Archie was a bad guy in the first series. This is the challenge of being in a drama where you’re not the lead character and everyone’s rooting for Humphrey. In another show, Archie’s show, everyone would be rooting for him and Martha. I don’t think Archie did anything wrong. He tried his hand. He’s a middle-aged man and, if you sit on the sidelines your whole life, you’ll stay there. He ducked out when asked to duck out and I think he did it with dignity.
But now, hopefully, they can find a way for their relationship to evolve and become what it needs to be in the future. But that’s something to be explored throughout this series - whether they can develop a new kind of relationship that fits their lives today.
What might future relationships hold for Archie?
He’s come back ready for other relationships. He’s not the kind of man who’s happy being a “solo traveler” through life - he’s looking for partnership. And without spoiling too much, he will give it a go somewhere in Shipton Abbott this season.
Did you enjoy returning to Devon and Cornwall for filming? Were there any particular shooting locations that stood out to you?
The first time I visited Cornwall it was for my 13th birthday and I read Jamaica Inn by Daphne du Maurier there. The romance of Cornwall has never left me. The smuggling, pirates, shipwrecks, fishing industry, tin mines, scenery, surfing… And I’m a golfer, so Cornwall has many lures for me.
Beyond Paradise is such a well-crafted, warm and engaging piece of television. It’s a no-brainer for me to return. I couldn’t wait to revisit Looe, which I have a real soft spot for. This time, I discovered Polperro a bit more. I love running and walking along the cliffs, I’m a bit of a fitness freak. My Cornwall routine is running on the cliffs and exploring. I stayed near Talland Bay where I’d swim in the mornings before work. It’s stunning.
I also caught up with an old English teacher of mine, Mr. Venning. He taught me Animal Farm and was a big inspiration. He’s from the area and we had coffee at the Smugglers’ Hotel. He shared some local lore which was fascinating.
What can audiences look forward to this series?
More of the same but even better and different. The “case of the week” stories are quirky, funny, and moving-everything you’d expect from Beyond Paradise! But for me, the real heart of the show is the relationships and character arcs. The main characters all have rich, evolving storylines. They’re three-dimensional - navigating love, loss, illness and life’s ups and downs. That’s where Archie operates. He’s part of that beating heart of the show. I have a confession though, I don’t even read the case scripts! I only focus on Archie’s storyline so I can watch the episodes like a viewer and discover the cases as they unfold. Archie doesn’t know about the police work anyway, so it’s fitting!
But yes, the show’s special because it balances technical, clever mysteries with deep character stories. That’s what makes it stand out.
What Others Have Said:
Kris Marshall (DI Humphrey Goodman)
Archie returns this season. How does this affect Humphrey?
Humphrey doesn’t feel threatened by Archie’s return. He’s always been a confident and emotionally strong person, and he’s very secure in his relationship with Martha. In past series, his issues stemmed from Archie working so closely with Martha but this time, Humphrey isn’t concerned. He’s more bemused than anything else. He isn’t losing sleep over it and is accepting of the situation.
What’s it like working with Jamie Bamber?
Working with Jamie is fantastic. It’s nice to have another actor of a similar age and experience on set, especially since we have both been in the industry since the 90s. While we didn’t know each other well back then, we have a lot of mutual friends, and it’s great to have someone around who shares that history. Jamie is a seasoned actor and a lovely person who brings a lot of fun to the set. We get along really well and it’s always a pleasure working with him.
Sally Bretton (Martha Lloyd)
Archie’s back on the scene. How does this make Martha feel?
Martha’s completely fine with Archie being around as long as Humphrey is okay with it. She likes him, but she’s clear that their past is firmly in the past. There’s mutual respect and closeness between them but absolutely no romance. It’s all very platonic. Working with Jamie (Bamber) is always a joy. He’s such a talented actor and I love doing scenes with him. He brings so much to the table, so it’s always fun to share those moments on screen.
Barbara Flynn (Anne Lloyd)
Is there a particular episode or scene in this series that stands out to you?
It was also lovely to have Jamie (Bamber) back this series. Anne has always had a soft spot for Archie - she originally hoped Martha would marry him! Whenever he’s around, it’s like the lights go on for Anne. Those moments are such a delight to play.
Welcome to our look back on Jamie’s 2024! It’s been another busy year for Jamie and so as we have been doing every year, it’s time to do our yearly review of Jamie’s 2024 career.
January started off strong with RAM Films’ Kenny Logan’s Rugby World Cup Documentary airing a shortened version over on BBC Breakfast. This month also saw him attend his first Comic Con of the year as he attended MegaCon at Excel in London.
The end of February gave us the official announcement of his involvement in The Wives which also started filming in the same month. Jamie was cast as Charlie Morgan, the widower of missing Sister-In-Law, Annabelle Morgan. He then took time out of filming at the beginning of March to attend York Comic Con, which we were lucky enough to attend.
As with every year, April saw him celebrate his 51st birthday! We also were given the announcement to the How Copy audio drama podcast. The Wives also wrapped filming in Malta.
The How Copy podcast was released the following month in May which Jamie guest starred in as Captain Brill. While June was the US release month of DI Ray and saw the announcement for July’s Metro Comic Con.
Jamie was a guest on the Game Of Life Podcast in July before he travelled over to Australia to attend Metro Comic Con.
August saw the trailer and release date announcement for Jamie’s movie, Strangers, that was filmed in Bulgaria in 2023. The same month also gave us the exciting news that he was returning to Beyond Paradise for series 3. Our page also celebrated it’s 6 year anniversary AND we got a first look at The Wives!
September was a busy month in terms of Jamie screen-time as it saw both the release of The Wives, airing over 2 weeks (and split into 3 episodes a week) and Strangers beginning it’s streaming on Paramount Plus, which also had him talking to Tony Toscano on his Talking Pictures podcast about the movie. At the end of September, Sky Sports + showed the full Rugby World Cup Challenge documentary, which we may, or may not be in.
October was the 1 year anniversary of the challenge itself and the UK FINALLY got DI Ray on ITV! October was an exciting times for Battlestar Galactica fans as many of the cast (including Michael Hogan who has been battling health issues since 2020) reunited in Illinois, Chicago for the 20th Anniversary convention.
Speaking of Battlestar Galactica, Jamie was a guest on Katee Sackhoff’s Podcast in November where they talked about things such as the BSG audition process, his decision to move his family from LA to Paris before returning to London and how he developed a love for Coffee on the set of BSG. Finally, also in November, Jamie attended a parlimentary reception at the House Of Commons hosted by PETA to pressure the government to phase out animal testing and experiments.
2025 already has us looking forward to Jamie's return as Archie Hughes in Beyond Paradise, which will likely air in the Spring and we cannot wait to see what else 2025 brings for Jamie!
As ever, we would like to thank you for all the support of our page over this past year and wish you all a very happy new year!
