Happy to announce the release of our first new beer in many years- #Michilimackinac #ImperialStout - #Line5 Edition. Brewed @jollypumpkin with naturally occurring wild yeasts and the first time we have used bourbon barrels instead of French Oak. Four Buffalo Trace bourbon barrels became known as the Funky Four after they spent 1.5 years holding cherry port at a #Leelanau winery before heading to #JollyPumpkin where they held #LaRoja and #Bieredemars for four years. We brewed 10bbls of Line 5 and aged it in the Funky Four and brought in one fresh, wet Buffalo Trace barrel and blended them together. This beer is named to bring awareness to a precarious old oil pipeline that runs under the Mackinac Straits. #sourstout #wildale #leelanaubrewing #bourbonbarrelaged

This oil pipeline in #michilimackinac also concerns brewers. @leelanaubrewing is proud to announce that we are brewing a Michigan Imperial Stout aged in some very special bourbon barrels and going to call the beer Line 5 Stout and we are working with the National Wildlife Federation in #michigan to raise awareness about this aging line. Call your congress and senators let them know we need action now. The world cannot afford to have a oil spill ever happen at #mackinac.
