First Project of 2016! I found this little pattern in a new magazine called Craft Girl. It makes me feel like I am 12 again :). But for $9 this little nostalgia maker has been a huge inspiration and has given me the drive to try all kinds of new crafty things. Hopefully this is just the beginning of something big..with coffee in my cup every morning, I'm sure I really can do it :)
The Long Elephant Journey.
Firstly, I can’t stress it enough how sorry I am for probably the longest amount of time I’ve gone without posting. Things got pretty crazy in my life and crocheting was put on the back burner a bit, but now I’m back! (I will explain the craziness at a later date)
But here is something new!
Probably another favourite of mine, and honestly, how could you not love the little elephants. The original FREE pattern was found by my stepmom at the following website (http://www.redheart.com/free-patterns/rickrack-rainbow-baby-blanket) which was originally done in rainbow but I knew I was making this blanket for a very special little boy and was greatly inspired by the elephant baby shower photo that is posted above :). The elephant appliqué I used was found at this website (http://www.repeatcrafterme.com/2014/10/e-is-for-elephant-crochet-elephant.html) very, very simple and again, super cute! This blanket ended up being special for a few reasons. It was made for a little boy named Peter. Peter was born on January 22nd of this year and after a very normal pregnancy followed a very large amount of complications during his birth. Peter remained in hospital for 166 days, but is now finally at home. I am going to admit that I cannot do this story justice so instead of trying to explain everything that happened I will post the link that includes both his incredibly journey and a fund that was started by his parents back in April as they are residents of Cambridge but Peter was at McMaster in Hamilton, so between gas and a place to stay, medical needs, food and needing to be with their little guy around the clock, needless to say money was a little bit snug. The fund for Peter is still up and running as although Peter is back home with mom and dad, he still isn’t 100% out of the woods. Here is his story (http://www.gofundme.com/petercameron). Sock Monkey!! This was a little something I put together for a girl I work with who is expecting her baby boy any day now! I just happened to have these three colours laying around and all I could picture was a sock monkey of some kind. I ended up finding this pattern online but did make a few alterations on the eyes and mouth. Then for the booties I just found a basic booty pattern but changed the colours and added the Pom Pom's. "Sophia" the Giraffe Everyone meet Sophia the Giraffe, not to be confused with Sophie the Giraffe, although they do look quite similar....I made this cutie for my niece Clara as a first birthday gift. she seemed to like it, although her mom doesn't let her play with it a lot as she doesn't want her to wreck it, which is understandable I think. I have made a total of 4 of these little beauty's and each one ends up looking slightly different than the last but I think that's what's so great about a gift like this :) the majority of this pattern came from the following website, (note; the ears and mouth were my own design) http://www.thelittlepomegranate.co.uk/patterns/crochet-patterns/a-little-present/
Mission Impossible!
It has been way too long since an update although I have made so many new things!
Over the next few weeks I will try to post as much as I can of the items I have created since the summer. Time has been flying by and there is just so much going on that I could be here all day trying to update you...but instead I will start with this shell patterned blanket I made for my dear friend Kira and her baby.
When Kira first announced she was pregnant, she was at the top of my “must make blankets for” list. At first I had bought about 4 different colours that I was going to use to make her a blanket that would match her nursery, I had turquoise, mustard yellow, some crazy super bright orange pink and plain white. Looking at the colours I thought they would be great even though I had no idea of the gender of the baby. After several attempts at a variety of patterns, even a few that I made up on my own, I decided to wait and find out exactly what she was going to be having. Finally after what seemed like a life time, Kira announced she had had a baby girl named Zoe. I was so excited to hear the news and went right back to start the blanket yet again! But still had no luck finding a pattern. I ended up going back to Michael’s to see if I could be inspired by something else and that’s when I spotted this gorgeous yarn, It honestly just screamed Zoe at me. I grabbed three skeins of it. Of course it had all these qualities of the “do not buy this” yarn; expensive? Check! Annoying to work with? Check! Buy it anyway? Check! And I was off! This yarn drove me insane! But after 4 hours of Dragons Den and trying every stitch from the crochet bible, I finally found the perfect match. This blanket was one of my most favourites to make and the most simple. I even made matching baby sandals. Zoe was not a fan of the sandals, but seemed to be very attracted to the blanket.
Mission complete :)
Happy Summer! Well friends it has definitely been a while and I really have no excuse since having the summer off but times have been pretty busy. Here is my latest, they are little baby thong style sandals and although they may not be very practical they are absolutely adorable :) I made these for my cousins baby girl who is about 9 months old, but unfortunately they were a bit too small, but that's ok! The best thing about them is they don't take long to make, so I'm going to try and make her another pair. Here is the site that I found the pattern on. Oodles of Owls!
These are my latest baby blankets. I've never had the pleasure of making blankets for twins and I couldn't be more happier with the way they turned out! I found the pattern for the owls last September and thought they were super sweet. It was a granny square pattern and after making two squares I quickly discovered that an entire blanket would take a very long time. The mother of the twins caught a glimpse at one of the squares and she absolutely loved the owls so I knew I had to try to incorporate them somehow. We found out in November that they would be having two twin boys and to much surprise they were born 6 weeks early. I had just started the blue blanket when i heard that the mother was in labour! The blankets themselves made up rather quickly, I used your basic Harlequin stitch (12 double crochet's per circle). As easy as the stitch is, you have to be so careful when it comes to tension, hook size and stretching.
I started these blankets near the end of February and finished them on Good Friday (April 18th). i managed to make 20 little owls in less than 2 days! So as of right now, I am taking a bit of a break from crocheting. I am waiting on one more of my lovely friends to have her baby (which should be any minute now!) and then I will start my final one of the year. Im hoping to move onto other things that are a little less time consuming...

It's been a while...
Hey everyone,
The last few weeks/months have been incredibly busy!! and I haven't had much time to make awesome posts. what you SHOULD know though is that I have been working really hard on a super sweet project. I have realized that as of next month that will make it almost 6 baby blankets in a year! quite the accomplishment for sure, but I must say, I think I am done baby blankets for a while after this, so to all of my friends and family; no more babies for a while :) K?….k.
hope everyone is keeping cool these days, and finding ways to relax and make things! it's such a busy time of year, but always remember to take time for yourself.

Room for Squares
Well my friends it's been a very long time since I've been able to update, I have been so incredibly busy and still crocheting my hands off! But this is my latest, I made this for one of my best friends in the entire world! She welcomed her second baby boy into the world on February 27th, baby Jared, he is absolutely adorable :) When I found out she was having another baby, I couldn't have been more excited for her and her family. She told me a while back that she found out she was having a boy and that she has decorated the nursery with a jungle theme! So after a few attempts, I found these three colours and this really awesome stitch and made baby Jared something he can keep with him forever and ever. I do plan to post this pattern very soon, I just need to find sometime to type it up. I have never written a pattern before so patience is required :)

Wonderful Whales!
This is a blanket I made for my cousin Derek and Caitlin and their little one Isla. She is an absolute beauty and after working on this for 4 months I finally got to hand it over to it's new home on Saturday. This blanket is an original pattern, it took a few tries but once I started I absolutely loved it. I made it pretty big because I never measure anything and I'm terrible at estimating, but at least Isla will be able to keep it with her for a very long time! The whales were an afterthought. Once I realized there was no way to finish this blanket without waves, I found a pattern for these whales and knew they were perfect. I will edit this post in the near future and include the entire pattern so some of you folks can try it on your own!
