Happy World Day for International Justice!

World Day for International Justice, also referred to as Day of International Criminal Justice or International Justice Day, is an international day celebrated throughout the world on July 17 as part of an effort to recognize the emerging system of international criminal justice. Barbara grumbled. She had tried to avoid upsetting Renée the last few weeks. So, she hadn't told her everything. She had carefully talked about what had happened. She didn't want to make her friend even more worried and despondent. She knew what is was like to stand up for those who were victimized by the broken system of law enforcement and supposed "justice" in Gotham. She and her father were close but had different motivations and friends. They had their own struggles. Her father dealt with the pressure with being a Black man in a leadership. She dealt with being a Black woman in an important position. She often faced a mixture of sexism and racism together. More recently, she had begun to question her ideals, even though she felt that working with Batman was worth it, despite the fact that he remained a mysterious figure. She did not know who he really was or his goals for Gotham itself...This caught her off guard. She had heard officers in the station talk about that woman and how she was partnered with a maniac who called himself 'Joker.' How could she have ever been a relationship with a woman like that! Maybe she should just stop dating altogether. She detested those engaged in "vigilante justice." She was horrified that her sweet Harleen, as she knew her, had captured and manipulated people. Had she been a menace? Maybe she had been quiet and calculating, while telling people what to do. Maybe she was pushing her pain onto others. As she knew her, Harleen would never do anything like that to her. She couldn't even imagine it. So, Barbara's words broke her heart.

She is overjoyed. However, she soon finds herself caught up in a mysterious murder, horrifying her to no end. She is paralyzed with fear and anxiety over what could happen if the shooter finds her, believing she is weak and could have done more to save stop this tragedy, even though she has no superpowers. Some time later, a young Japanese girl and her two detective colleagues, her father and brother-of-sorts, appear. The girl soon comforts her when no one else will, bringing them together and deepening their bond…

Happy International Drag Day

Today is an annual event on July 16 that aims to celebrate and recognize the drag art all around the world.

I only have one fic I have ever written partially about drag, and it's a RPF fic I wrote about AOC and Marjorie Taylor-Greene:

Genuinely start bringing a book (preferably short and either fiction or a non fiction topic you already really enjoy) everywhere you go and when you have 5-20 mins waiting for the bus or at the doctors office or mechanic or whatever, get out your book and read it! You don’t have to finish it quickly or even read it often but it is so good for your brain and fun to get into the habit of reading more (and replacing being on your phone for those moments). Jess, a Latina whose dad was from Honduras and mom from California, paused for a second ... Their conversation was immediately interrupted when Jess's phone buzzed. "It's my Mami. She's asking where I am..." She began stepping away from the table. Although the text didn't make her anxious, she did feel bad that she was leaving behind someone who could be a new friend. ... Only a few seconds later, her Mami showed up. "Jessica, why'd you run away from the convention? I thought you were so excited to be there…I mean, you made this shirt on your own." She laughed nervously as she pulled on her t-shirt with a superman symbol in the middle.

My new fic about Jessica Cruz is out!

Good morning everyone! I thought I'd share my newest fic, which is, like Part 2 of my series centered on Jessica "Jess" Cruz ("Jess, Crippling Anxiety, Blossoming Friendship, and What Matters"), as she is depicted in My Adventures with Superman (MAWS), added to "Disability Pride Bingo", a fanworks collection that is hosted by @access-codes-zine. As such, it fulfills the prompt for anxiety, at the very least, although not necessarily the one prompt for PTSD, particularly in regard to Jess herself (and Kara to a lesser extend). I am headcanoning Jess as Honduran based on a posting on Tumblr by @josephinebrooke. This story is fluffy, or to be exact, has fluffy angst, with all the inspirations from Tumblr, apart from the episode itself (and clips of it), at the end of this post, for you all to see.
