Lady Francis appreciating post 💖
[ everyone: trying to decipher this and that from the newest chapter me: ahhh........ new.... frances icons... ]
Mélanie Laurent, Noémie Merlant
' Oh, Mother! You'll be as enchanting and beautiful as the moon, tonight! ' the little blonde kid chuckled. Happy for being absolutely sure to spend a whole day in the Countess' company, Frances was surely in high spirit; she took the woman's hand and got closer to place a kiss on her cheek, on tiptoes. It was an honour to be the first one after the maids, to see her new dress. ' Vincent and I helped with the cake, if it can ever be noticed. Our true present can wait for the end of the party. '
LOVE FOR THE BIRTHDAY LADY
@lefleurettee
Today was one of those peculiar days that the Countess was ripped away from her work, though she arranged the right strings for it not to be so far out of reach but nonetheless, she made her prime objective to give her loved ones a rich time together and frankly, the woman herself could not ask for a better way to spend this day.
The brush in the maid’s hand went through dark locks ever so smoothly that you’ll never dare to pose the possibility that such a silk-like hair was not brushed since very early in the morning. A small thing Claudia felt more tranquil after, the simple brushing was enough to smoothen some of her worries that are tangled within her mind. She gave a genuine smile for her precious one, the tip of her fingers a little over her lips.
“ Now now, how can I not shine after such a honey bath from my precious “ how her heart fills up with such a genuine warmth at every smile, word or caring gesture her breathtaking night flower blesses her with —— so much that she can’t help herself to not return the gesture and place a kiss of the young girl’s forehead.
” Keeping me on my toes with suspense, you two know how to play with me so well, as expected “

angerosea:
English literature was early in the morning, followed by basic etiquette lessons for a lady an hour later, and finally dancing with a loyal instructor. No lessons involving a sword, just those of delicacy and femininity. The daughter of the Midfords seemed to find herself retreating to her room with her nanny on most days when she had time to spend with herself. Though, it was special time when her mother came to see her.
Her talents in embroidery showed when it came to crafting flowers on the pale fabric. She was a girl who painted her own world many colours, using the needle and thread as her canvas. What would she be aiming for? A simple pink rose perhaps.
The young lady turned her head towards her mother’s voice, nodding slowly. “Yes, mother! It’s simply delightful.. I think you would enjoy it much better now!”
the cheerful tone of the girl, as delicate as the heavenly jingle of small bells, would have never ceased to lift her spirits up; she could see a bit of herself in Elizabeth, of course, but that softer side the blonde kid would display so naturally perhaps. had she ever been like that ? she had no one to ask. but one lady had to know of such fine arts, and had to aspire to master them once reached the appropriate age -- and Frances had to admit it too that observing both her children engaging in calmer activities, like reading or embroidery itself instead of crueler sword-play and fencing, did put her heart at peace. no parent would have wanted something that heavy constantly falling on such small, innocent creatures...
she held a spare needle, carefully rotating it through her long fingers. ‘ You think so ? I remember I’d simply make the weirdest messes with a thread and needle, that Tanaka would try and persuade me to do something different, whenever he saw me trying to sew. ’ ; she then grabbed a spare piece of cloth on the nearest little table and pierced right through it, eyes a bit narrowed and focused on the spot.
Frances smiled -- she thought she could still remember a thing or two about embroidery. it had been long past the time she’d need that skill, now that training did occupy most of her mornings and spare time. ‘ Do you remember that one decorated handkerchief you made for your Father ? He keeps it always with himself, did you know that ? ’

she didn’t remember being introduced to him, actually. it made things a bit embarrassing. yet he had come for her too just now, like he had done for the past thirty minutes or so with many other young girls at the same party, in that very same saloon. the end of the Season did happen to be way more chaotic than what she’d have preferred to live through, that year. but while she could more or less recognize the same faces, that one young boy sure did distinguish himself out of the mass pretty well -- and not only due to his look.
she had seen him approaching a girl right next to her, offered her a drink and chatted a long time about nothing important or pertinent to the current circumstance -- nor the waltzer or polka carnet, nor the mansion and its kind host. were they not in public, where everyone could see, Frances would have thought he was having fun flirting with girls... ! that could not be the case, right ? yet he didn’t seem, nor smelled like, he was drunk.
‘ Thank you, Sir, but I must refuse it. ’ suddenly, Frances was forced to put her frown away as she noticed the boy had started interacting, with proper mannerism at the very least ! -- and offered her a small flute glass too, ‘ The waiter may be quite annoyed at this: you seem of having taken hold of his entire plethora of drinks by now... ’

she had eyed the boy with nothing but a tone of disdain for his hair. what kind of man would have kept his hair-style that unruly ? -- ah, she swore to herself it must have been that butler’s degenerate influence making its way into the other unfortunate boys and his manners, not to mention the rest of the servants at the service of Frances’ nephew. while she had never had the pleasure to meet the new footman of Phantomhive manor, though, she just couldn’t ignore him. a first-class section as the one they were all occupying had no place for looks of such a kind.
still, he somehow seemed way more mild-mannered than the butler, Frances was glad to notice it. and had not really opposed any resistance at the woman’s wish to make the two men slightly more presentable for the sailing tea party they all ought to participate in; he had a small mirror in hand and looked carefully at the Marchioness hairbrush.
‘ See, how do you find yourself like this ? Don’t you think you look way more proper now... well, at the very least your bangs aren’t too long or unkept. ’

Frances needed to admit it was remarkably sad to meet -- or it’d have been better to say, remeet, such an old acquaintance during events skimming the very verge of grief and sadness for the family as a whole. but she had seen her nephew interacting rather boldly with the Undertaker, and the Marchioness had little to no doubts about it: her brother had been through the same business years prior that day, when he still did carry the heavy burden of the role bestowed by the Crown upon his head and shoulders. the shady Undertaker had been her brother’s informant for years, that was no secret to her, no matter what name she owned now...
a pity, for that young boy was barely thirteen now -- oh, she had been counting the days carefully for him, since there really was not many out there who would have done it, after all - not anymore, unfortunately. and he had just seen his maternal aunt die horribly, attended her funeral just minutes before. ceremonies were over now, though, and she had eyed him leaving the graveyard together with his butler, to then approach Angelina’s tombstone herself.
‘ I would pray you to... somehow, go easy on him, as they say. ’ she talked softly, as she felt the black-robed man moving next to her, ‘ He may mask it well enough, but there is no doubt in my mind this loss proved him. ’
